While you said "all other things being equal" meant accuracy and speed -- I assumed we were talking about the guns, and not the shooter's use of the guns.
If you shoot them equally well (even though most folks DON'T shoot all calibers equally well), then go with the one that lets you feel most confident when shooting in a stressful situation.
If you're confident with either, and equally accurate with either, under pressure, and money's an issue, get the one that's cheapest; if they're the same price, and money's tight, get the one that costs the least to shoot.
If money's not tight, get the one that makes the biggest hole.
In most self defense situations, CNS shots are what's going to stop an attacker -- and while a bigger round doesn't really stop any better than a smaller one IF YOU HIT THE CNS, a slightly larger round will do a bit more damage if you miss the CNS...
