The ones I got from the CMP did not have magazines with them. They are great shooting rifles.

I own two of these fine target rifles. At 50 yards I can shoot three group shots that touch each other using a rest. I would recommend the M44 to anyone looking for an inexpensive target rifle.
The only downside is the magazine,they are hard to come by and when you do they are in the $40 to $50 range.

I've already put the correct original magazine in this rifle. It's a bonus. This rifle appears to be going to a new home with Don.

I have 6 of them. Blued, parkerized, Mossberg sites and Lyman sites. They were a bargin from the CMP at $75 a piece. I don't plan on parting with any of them. I picked up a Mossberg 42S that uses the same magazine as the M44 and it had a 15 round magazine, for $115. Stopped in a gun shop in Myrtle Beach several years ago and there were several oddball magazines laying on the counter. I noticed right off that one was for the M44 and I asked the guy if they were for sale and he said yeah for $5. Nearly hurt myself reaching for my wallet so quickly.

Me and my boys were at the range shooting years ago and we kept having a wood boring bumble bee buzzing us. I told the boys that if he came back I was going to shoot him, he came back and I shot him out of the air with one of the M44's. They were impressed.

these are what I started shooting competition with.....I only put it down to pick up an Anschutz 54 supermatch... interested but I don't need another 22
