Anyone else having this issue?

Ran 100 rounds through it today and developed a rub near the second knuckle on my thumb.

Doesn't look like much but it's enough to make me consider selling it.

It's the sharp edge on the grip

Yeah. I compared it to my 9sc and that ridge is not rubbing against my knuckle.

Honestly I was pissed cuz I don't shoot it anywhere near as well as I do my 9sc.

I love the XDs, it carries so well. Feels good in my hand but if I can't shoot it w/o even minimal pain I need to find something else.

That looks like slide bite to me.
Yeah, that has to be the slide.

I'm holding my XDS now and I don't see how the grip could possibly contact sr30's shooting hand at that location on his thumb. I bet his thumb rides high up and just barely contacts the slide - just barely, which is why he's only noticing the problem after shooting a lot of rounds.

Great example of why its important to actually shoot guns as part of your selection process. I learned early on by doing this that some pistols simply don't work for me while they may be great for someone else. Glocks give me slide bite, Sigs have problems with premature slide lock in my hands, LCP slaps my trigger finger, the list goes on.

Not used to rubbing blisters on that side of your hand, huh?

You are goose necking the grip.

Rotate the pistol so the area in question is more forward. You are using your lower two fingers to control the grip. If you use your web of the hand and the tang the pistol will sit better. The finger below the index finger ( first under the trigger guard) needs a solid rest on the trigger guard.

Between that finger and the web / tang that's all you need to do. If the lower two fingers have grip at the tips, then you do not have a proper grip.

Yep, more web of the hand in the tang should solve the problem.

John, the index finger goes on the trigger (when firing). So are you saying the next finger (the middle finger) should have a firm grip on the FRONT of the trigger guard?
Sorry for not being clear. Under the trigger guard with the middle finger.

The middle finger under the trigger guard and the web of the hand high in the tang with no finger tip pressure with the bottom two fingers, thumb loose (resting) is a more accurate single hand grip.

If I'm understanding you correctly, most of the grip pressure from the shooting hand comes from the palm (web and on down into the palm) and the middle finger?

Visualize this please:

Hand grip strength in shooting is from the middle finger nail all the way to the thumb nail. That line we just made is where you control the pistol from. The index finger can not be part of this grip strength. If it was the trigger would always be pressed to the rear. This is why a high tang grip and tightly under the trigger guard (index points) will always keep the pistol aligned with the forearm and control recoil to its best ability.

The two fingers below the middle finger do not support the pistol at all, they help in personal feel but thats it.

If you have pressure on the tips of your fingers you heel the pistol with your palm and it always shoots low, that level of pressure can not be repeated from shot to shot, and it why people adjust grip during a sting of fire.

Think of the (wrong way) as compressing around the grip.

Think of the correct way as (supporting the pistol) around the tigger.

That looks like it hurt...a lot! My XD 9mm service doesn't do that, but my hand is smaller than yours...cuz...I'm a girl.
My 9sc doesn't either.

I sold the pistol and got a 1911. Came out ahead. :)
