Does anyone else have trouble with it failing to extract hot rounds when you manually pull the bolt back?

I DO have a bull barrel on it. And it has no problem ejecting spent rounds. But it's a pain in the arse to clear hot rounds.

Any suggestions?

Do you mean live rounds? The only thing that grabs the round once the bolt is closed is the extractor. If it ejects spent rounds, I would ask if you are dropping the bolt from its back position or letting it close without force? If you open the bolt, is the live round fully seated?

Yeah sorry, I meant live rounds.

The most common scenario is I'll load a mag, shoot a few rounds without emptying the mag. I'll drop the mag out and attempt to clear the rifle. When I pull the bolt back the extractor doesn't grab the live round. So I'll lock the bolt back, grab a knife and pry the live round out. Obviously it should be grabbing the round and yes its fully seated.

Your heavy barrel may have a Bentz or other tighter than standard size chamber. If so it will cause unfired rounds not to extract.

It is a volquartsen barrel so it supposedly has a match chamber. I believe they sell a power extractor with a stronger spring. For $10 it's probably worth giving it a try.

And yes, its doing it with everything type of ammo I've put through it.

My Volquartsen THM barrel does the same thing. Keep a small screwdriver or pocket knife with you if you get the new extractor. I have their's and live rounds still will not extract 85%+ of the time. Its a small price to pay for the accuracy you get with the match chamber though.
