Not surprised.
I have a friend that used to be a manager at a dollar tree in the Baptist hospital area of WS while he was in school
He was an assistant and the manager was a guy with no backbone.
Anyway, he had a lot of employees that were on benefits and just WOULDNT come to work once they hit X number of hours. If they went over that amount then they made too much money and it affected their welfare/wic/whatever it was.
The spineless guy wouldnt fire them cause he was scared of who knows what, so my friend, for about 8 months until he was done, had to endure being understaffed at a store that was near a lot of section 8 housing (aka they real busy. Dont get me wrong, he was two blocks from Ardmore etc, but the crappy housing was across the street)
It was a dang shame just to hear about it, knowing there are folks who would WANT to work 25-30 hours (or whatever they did for part time), but because the head manager was scared to let these people go then he had to endure people constantly calling out.
So yeah, not surprised by this.
Will be even more 'not surprised' when costs of goods/living increases and these people are back to complaining about not having enough money. They lack little knowledge/education of basic economics, they felt that magically receiving 15 bucks an hour would solve all their financial issues and put them in a great spot.
