3 Heavily Armed People Arrested At Holland Tunnel On Way To New York City

Three people were arrested with multiple loaded guns, knives and rounds of ammo at the Holland Tunnel Tuesday when police stopped them for driving with a cracked windshield, authorities tell NBC 4 New York.

Not clear how a cracked windshield led to a search of the vehicle unless the stuff was openly visible.

Oh, yeah..because terrorists are so interested in advertising their presence driving around in bright, multi-colored SUV's.

Although, I have to say that driving around with "Higher Ground Tactical" pasted across the entire windshield and sides of the vehicle probably played a part in this.

And the usual BS descriptions such as "The guns seized included long-range weapons as well as handguns. A camouflage helmet with what appeared to be night goggles was also recovered."

Whoopdeedoo.

Probably the sanest part of the whole article is this:

"Two senior law enforcement officials say the three suspects are so-called "gun enthusiasts" and have no nexus to terror. There is no known threat."

Sounds like they were preparing to enter the south Bronx during the day. So long to their gun rights.

"A search of their vehicle -- a brightly colored Dodge utility vehicle with logo decals for Tonka, Monster energy drinks and another one that read "Higher Ground Tactical", apparently a gun range and shop in Emmaus, Pennsylvania -- revealed the weapons cache. "

Looks like they got stopped and two mags were in plain view, leading to the search.

You can't see a crack in that windshield that would cause obstruction of view. My wife had a similar case when there was obvious profiling and they used the cracked windshield ploy. Her client had two pounds of weed and they dropped charges to improper equipment to keep it from looking like a total bust. The DA could not find any case law on the subject of a cracked windshield.

Might be a first though.

Tell me about it. Looking further at that pic, the mags look to be NY compliant. Look like a Sig extended mag for the p238 or P938, and a 1911 mag. So the question becomes, can legal mags be probable cause for a search? Or worse, did they agree to the search?

So...here is a question...the white paper says "Plain View"...which would lead me to believe that those two 1911 looking magazines were what was in plain view from the report. Not even scary big box 300 round magazine caliber ghost clips.
