My full size Rock Island has never missed a beat in four years/2000+ rounds. No failures of any kind.
My new Compact Rock Island has not been as good.
I have just over 100 rounds through it.

Today I ran 2 mags of 6 reloads. Previous rounds were a mix of 230 brass ball, 230 HP, 230 Ball Tula.
Today I had one failure where the slide did not lock back on the empty first mag.
I expect it did not latch back on the second mag either. The very last round casing ended up jammed between the barrel and the slide, horizontal, with the case mouth against the slide by the firing pin, 180 out so to speak. If the slide had latched it would not have been able to pinch the empty casing, yes/no?
In the previous 90 odd rounds, there were two failure to feed from the magazine and one failure to go all the way into battery.
Obviously the reliability needs to improve for EDC.
I am replacing the magazine with a Wilson Combat and the recoil spring with a Wolff. I'd have done those two things regardless of any jams or lack of.
Personally, I'm confident this gun will iron out with a bit more use.
Whatchuthink?

Possible the reloads are a little light for the gun, shorter slide 1911s are less tolerant and usually have stiff recoil springs. Try factory ammo again to confirm. Mags are always suspect but usually either don't work from the get go or fail over time, becoming progressively worse.

I don't know for sure with RIA but 100rnds is not generally considered to be "broken in" and choking during the first few hundred on occassion is not terribly uncommon.

Gotten worse.
As advised, I ran single rounds, no mag, although I did strip each round from the mag to load the chamber, then removed the magazine.
Seven shots, three jams. Winchester 230 Gr. Ball ammo.

This jam occurred with the magazine inserted.

There were also two instances of the slide failing to lock back on empty.

Main spring to heavy, extractor needs tuning, get a better mag and adjust your slide stop.....just my thoughts.

I got a 3" Springfield EMP 9mm for my wife. Initially I thought it just needed "hot" or quality factory ammo to function properly not being familiar with 9mm 1911s. After a mag of "quality" ammo with the same problems I realized the pistol I paid so much for should function with whatever I wanted to feed it. Couldn't diagnose it specifically on my own so I sent it to Springfield. 8 days later I had it back with a long work summary list from the armorer. Functions like any pistol should now. I wouldn't start changing stuff out; I'd contact RIA.

Those 3 point jams are a bitch. I'd try the Hilton yam extractor test. Load a round take mag out and fire. Do that for 10 rounds or so and check ejection. Could be extractor tension too tight or loose. Or extractor clocking

Maybe it's just me, but I never could get a 1911 to run 500 rnds without a failure. I eventually sold every one of them. Hope your experience isn't as bad as mine. Wish my experience had been better. They are extremely accurate.

Yea, some very very high end 1911's need many rounds to be broken in. Let me ask you this? What did you do before shooting the gun ever.. This is what I did. I racked the slide by hand (or worked the slide) over 400 times. Then I took it apart and thoroughly cleaned and lubed it. I've even hear of guys polishing the slides out the box to get rid if the "break in period". I shot 110ish rounds, only had one failure to fire and I think it was ammo related. It was some junk 84 grain hp 9mm LOLOL, yes 84 grain hahah. Other than that, perfect.
