I carry 9mm exclusively on my strong side and it is always loaded with either Speer Gold Dot or Remington Golden Saber both in 124 grain+P. Excellent stopping power, penetration and expansion. The 9mm packs a potent wallop with these rounds and I trust them not only with my life but also the lives of my loved ones Dependable and lethal.

I like the 124gr Hornady TAP ammo a lot, but lately I have really started to like the Federal EFMJ stuff. I have no experience with any of it as far as SD goes, but the EFMJ sure blows large holes in my bowling pins.:8:

I like Corbon Powerball for all my carry pistols. The polymer ball allows it to feed well in all of my pistols and it shoots to point of aim.

I would recommend trying several different loads to see what works well in your particular firearm. Shooting to point of aim is IMHO more important than speed or weight.

Just my $.02.

It dosnt really matter..I would use a FMJ too..

Im not a fan of the speer gold dot.

I like Federal the most... hydrashocks EFMJ or HST's, Remingon Golden Sabers or Hornady TAPs and XTPs. I only used these in my .40cal 229 but I dont see why they would be any different in a 9mm.

For my 9mm I use Winchester White Box 147gr JHP out of my glock 26 (before I traded it), my Sig Sauer 226 and my Hi-Point 995 Carbine (these things hit HARD). I've done some tests and these work the best for the price..they are fairly cheap and you can get them in 50 round boxes at walmart. Some people say it is to slow for reliable expansion..I have one sitting right here that would prove otherwise. I've also used 115gr. JHP of various brands..remington (generic) and federal hydra shocks..I wouldn't feel underarmed with any..I would rather have the 147 but i'm not going to go out of my way to get it over the 115.

For me: Federal 147g JHP (hydra-shock) or Hornady 124g XTP JHP
Both work well in my G19, and I am no fan of +P. If I wanted the extra noise and muzzle flash I would still be carring my GP100. I can hold a 3-4in group @ 25 and that is good enouph for me.

Speer Gold Dot 124gr Std-P.

I do not believe in using 147gr bullets in 9mm, as it is trying to make the 9mm something it is not: if you want a slow heavy bullet, you should be shooting .45acp.

I also do not shoot over pressured (+P, +P+) rounds, no reason to beat the gun up, and that again takes away from what 9mm is supposed to be (low recoil, fast target reacquisition)... Again if you want a hi powered round with lots of blast and kick, shoot 10mm!

shot some different things into the phone books last weekend and the newer Hornady FTP's (i think thats the abrieviation) with the flex filled hollow point opened impresively EVERY time. with the federals and the others we shot we got a couple that filled with phone book and didnt open up. i know it was dry phonebook but i figure if they will open in that theyll open in anything.

Any particular reason you don't like Gold Dots? You're probably the only person I've ever heard say that. Not giving you a hard time, just curious.

They are good for shooting through car windows but they arn't good for shooting through thick clothing. I'm not a cop so i'm not going to be shooting through car windows...

...And my old boss loved them because his buddy was a GA state trooper so he just haddddd to use them..and I REALLY hate the guy.

Example..gold dots

HST's

Just my feelings...Dosn't mean go out and do it...I just dont like em. I'm not really brand specific either...I don't feel any different loading FMJ's or JHP's into a carry gun.

P.S. I know you're not giving me a hard time brother it's just a question!
