My dad called the shop around noon today...and right in the middle of our conversation he went silent, no "click", no "beep", no dial tone...he just went silent. About that time a customer came in, so I had to deal with him...then my brother/partner gets back for getting lunch, and I tell him what happened, and that dad didn't call back...all strange.
So I call their home phone, no answer, call their cell phones, no answer.
They are 10 minutes from the shop, so I jump in the truck, unlock my secure console and chamber a round in the XD45 and head for dad's place.
About a mile before I get there, I un-tuck my shirt, slip the XD in the small of my back, put an extra loaded mag in my front pocket, open my phone and dial 911 and leave it open ready to hit "send".
I get there....mom is in the front yard doing some gardening and I sigh in relief...stop the truck mid driveway...open the door and step out...and say "what tha hey!"
Turns out that everything was fine, he thought that I had hung up cuz I needed to TCB, when actually his phone died.
It was a highly unusual chain of events that got me worried. They are in their 70's...and it was unusual that he didn't call me back...and that they didn't answer 3 phones when I called back!
I didn't know what to expect when I got there, so I hope I was prepared for anything. I had my company logo shirt on, and a job clipboard in the truck...so I had in my mind that if a strange vehicle was in the driveway...then I'd pretend to be there to look at some sort of job quote, just in case something wasn't right.
Cell phone ready to call 911...armed and concealed...ready for whatever.
Is there anything that I may have missed or not thought of?
Critique?
