I have been looking locally for an AK too.But I just can't bring myself to pay $750-950 for one.I think I will wait a bit and see if they will come down any more.

Look somewhere else. They're out there for about half that.

My rifle purchases have been thru online dealers --- if you have not purchased a rifle online it seems like a big deal at first but trust me its not.

Like you I have a hard time paying high retail plus tax. Take the Kvar rifle for 499, your looking at maybe 575ish total (shipping/transfer). Buying that same rifle at a gunshow probably would be 800 buckish plus tax

for me the choice is pretty easy to make

Find a good FFL that will transfer for a reasonable price and buy on line.
