Moved here about 2 years ago from NJ - glad to be away from there. Have had a chance to shoot at local indoor ranges. Most interested in handguns (both semis and revolvers).
Do have a CCW from Fla and VA - and I know NC has reciprocity. My question is (and I read through the NCDOJ Firearm documents - but I still am confused) is: does the law require "open carry" or is "concealed carry" required?
Sorry if it is an obvious answer.

Welcome to the group!

Do you mean is open carry allowed, or is CCW required? My knowledge of NC law is such that open carry is not explicitly illegal and therefore legal (where possessing a gun is legal) without any kind of permit. An NC Concealed Handgun Permit is only required to carry a handgun concealed.

If you're interested in handguns and competition, there's a pretty good IDPA match this weekend at PDHSC.

Welcome, there are many knowledgeable people here who can answer your questions.

Welcome to the club. Glad you were able to escape NJ lol. What John said ^^^^ ZSA matches are a lot of fun, I need to get to some in the near future myself.
