Any good ideas how to shut a dog up

For any of you that don't know I have some pretty f###### up neighbors. They have a lab that gets on a barking spree and will not stop. She is in their fenced in back yard and they will be hanging outside their side door by their trucks smoking cigs and whatever they do and the dog goes nuts. Luckily they at least take the dog in the house between 10 and 11pm or the law would be here a lot.. Noise ordnance is a no go 11pm. So I cant use that. Talking to these jerks is out of the question.
I'm sitting here in the bedroom with windows shut and with not one but 2 fans going to drown out the barking and still can here it.
Because of that dog we cannot enjoy the cool autumn fall and open our windows.
Anyone have any good suggestions? That work. Devices? Something to shut that dog up.

Ah almost 3 years of living here and dealing with them.. I posted a thread here back last summer of the crap I have went through with them. Picture the worst neighbors you can imagine. So bad that if I can get the money up I'm getting a surveillance system up.
Definite gene pool problem here
How do you know that talking is a no go?

Grind up some glass real fine. Put it in some hot dogs. Toss the hot dogs near the dag. Do this for a few days until the dag bleeds out from the inside.

;sofa

Obviously I do not advocate this!

Have you tried one of the noise generators that emits a high pithed noise that dogs are supposed to hate? If you put it close enough to the fence it might work. You can probably find one for $20 so it might not be a bad investment just to test.

Dogs bark for various reasons on their own. Then a dog will bark to get ones attention. Unfortunately you are in a tough situation. I have four dogs and believe it or not they bark on occasion, my neighbors have dogs and their dogs bark. It is something they do. Also I am not sure dogs fall into noice ordinance laws I would be courious to see if they do.

That being said go get yourself one of these and place in a window near the dogs. After a few days or so they will no longer bark.

Can't believe this thread has made it so far without the "its not the dogs fault" "he is just doing what he is bred to do" crowd taking over. Get a dog whistle and start conditioning his responses.

I have looked at that and was wondering if they truly work? Don't get me wrong I love dogs. We have a male lab but you would never know it.. Toby our lab is in the back yard..
Our neighbors across the road have a large kennel of various hunting dogs for fox hunting. They don't bother me one bit. They only bark when it's feeding time. But this dog. My god it wont shut up.
That device you put the link up have you used it?
Oh BTW this isn't a occasional barker. This is full non stop bark for hours. Migraine kicking in bark

How can I condition his response if I don't own him? I agree it's not the dogs fault its the owners fault who you cant come to a reasonable solution with.

We use a dog whistle for conditioning. These actually do work plus they have a 45 day return guarantee. But for 80 bucks your not out to much of a fortune.

When a dog barks and they associate it with a noise they do not like (like a whistle) they will stop barking in fear of hearing the noise. If you go the whistle part you will have to tune it to the dog though (yes you can change the pitch).

I have tried this one and several more with no luck (not to say they wont work for you). I dont want to think about the $ I have spent on this problem.

I'll tell you what I did do. As a test I actually download several apps to my smartphone that where dog barking deterrents last spring. But it's on a cell phone and the dog is a good 30 yards away. I have a 400 watt per side pa in my band room. So stupid me takes one of the speakers and sat it by the garage door unhooking the other speaker. I did a strait headphone jack into my mixing board and cranked up the main volume.. I was just at the yellow on the mixing board and I cold not here anything. My son yells and the crossover caught on fire in my pa speaker. My pa speaker was on fire.
Lesson learned try to outsmart a lab = $90.00 for a new crossover

I've been to his house. Was there about an hour or so....damned dog came up to the fence and barked and snarled at me the whole time I was outside. Neighbor came out, looked at the dog, looked at me, went in and shut the door. This guy also has what sounds like a police/fire scanner playing at full volume in an unattended pickup truck. These morons do not know the meaning of the word consideration.

Will you move to Craven County and run for County Commissioner?
Vote Pale Rider for president, and I'll do what needs to be done about the buttholes next door. Ticks me off when people treat their dogs like crap. That's usually the reason for your lab situation. Just fill me in on the ballot. I'm pretty sure I'm a shoe-in.
