Took the day off yesterday and did some running around. Being it was a pretty nice day, I figured I would drive the Mustang. While I was out, I thought, lets get this piece cleaned up a bit. Pulled in the AB to get her clean and shiny. Ran the car through, and as it came out the other end, the ds mirror is hanging by the power cord on the side of the door. So now I get a little pi$$ed off, but remained calm and cool. I get the manager, which in return offers me some free car washes to make up for it. I tell him no, that the mirror wasnt broke when I pulled in, as he commented on the car when I pulled up and witnessed nothing wrong with said mirror, and that I wasnt coming out of my pocket for a replacement. He says, "man, that thing cant cost more than $50.00 or so". So, I call the ford dealership, put the sales guy on speaker, and get a price of $215.00 + tax. Manager just looks at me and says, lets go write up a claim, all the while telling me that it may take 2-3 weeks to get a check, and am I sure I just dont want some car washes to make up for it. So to get it home, I duct taped it up, and drove it home. Hopefully I wont have any trouble getting the money from them. Should have just went to work, lol.

Very common for things like this to happen. Also sounds about like the usual response from most car washes. I worked at an audio/video shop for about 7 years and we were replacing broken antennas constantly for a couple different car washes. Most of them just sent the customer to us and then paid us directly. We had one place we probably did 2 or 3 a months for on average. Definitely sucks though. Didn't scratch the paint flopping around against the side of the car did it? Or rip the metal where it bolts to the door?

I used to work for the Auto bell on Albemarle Rd. They have a policy of reimbursing 100% for damage to a factory item on a vehicle. We personally fixed factory installed running boards all the time for customers because the wash tore them up. Work the location manger over good by telling him that you are aware of the reimbursement policy for factory installed hardware and don't let up. It is their policy.

I hope they don't take too long to get you your money.

That reminds me of my first job as a teen. I worked at "Auto Brite" in J-ville. This guy came in with a Cadillac and his automatic antenna wouldn't go down. He said he'll pay anyone $20 to walk through the car wash holding the antenna to make sure it wouldn't get snapped off. I said "I'll do it". I put on a rain suit (jacket and pants) and walked through backwards so the felt thingies (don't know what they're called) wouldn't hit me in the face. Those felt "thingies" beat the ever living hell outta me LOL. I was only 16 but that was the hardest $20 I've ever earned.

Dang, That sucks. At least they seemed to take care of it. Hope all turns out well for you.
