< I am 46 and have been playing drums since I was 12 so I feel qualified to give input here. The guy is a showboat, it is a VERY easy song to play and he keeps time but thats about it. If you want to hear great drumming check out Buddy Rich, Simon Phillips, Neal Peart and Dave Garibaldi. This guy isnt even in the top 100 of the best drummers ever.

From knowing a lot of drummers I can tell you a couple things. All drummers think other drummers are showing off and all drummers think they're better than other drummers. I don't get the mentality but from being closely tied to bands and heavily in local music scene for a long time these are conversations drummers have with themselves and others around them.

Roll him on his side, I think he is having an epileptic seizure. :D

Flashy, but completely out of line with his bandmates. Looks so out of place.

As an aside - What do you call a drummer who does not have a girlfriend? Homeless.

The guy might be one hell of a drummer.. All I'm saying is in the video he is show boating.. Is he better than me? Heck I have no clue. Because the video is all I have to go on.. It's all show. I also use to be very tied in to the local bands in the Triad area as well. I use to stage tech for Arcane.. Know all the guys from what use to be Five Two One. Black Glass etc etc.. Most of my facebook contacts are bands and musicians from Winston Salem area. Music is 2nd blood in this household..
With that being said. I'm not one to sit here and say I'm better than the next guy. My glory days have passed. I will however pick out details of various bands and drummers and go that guy is awesome vrs that guy heh is ok.. Is the guy in the video fun to watch? yea. But close my eyes. He isn't that good.

Maybe ya'll misunderstood my meaning here. I never said he was a great drummer. All I meant, and I guess I should have stated this, was that he has talent (in my non-drummer eyes) to be able to do all that show boating while not missing a beat. I wouldn't know a hard song to play drums to anyway because I don't play. I have a hard time on Band Hero, for pete's sake.
I just thought somebody might enjoy the video. Maybe I should have posted it in the minefield with all the raucus it started.

There are several videos of that guy floating around the net that end up on drumming forums... He's an average drumming doing stupid stuff to get noticed. Anyone that's played for a decent amount of time and has a basic level of skill can toss is silly showboating with a tiny bit of commitment to practicing said showboating.

Basically from a drummers point of view he's a goober and no one would really want to emulate him. :)

There isn't any raucus that I see.. Just opinion from members who are either musicians or tied into the music community. It would be the same reaction about target shooting..
I don't think anyone is really knocking the video. At least I'm not. Just telling it as I see it.
Fun to watch yes..
Is he that good? heh...
He isn't the first drummer to showboat. Many drummers use to do it and still do it..

Here's my pick for #1 drummer....Max Roach.

How many drummers does it take to change a light bulb?

Ten.

One to actually change the bulb and the other nine to explain the different ways that Neil Peart would have done it better.

I did find the video entertaining.
