Drivers Ed Film from the mid 70's - like I saw

Many years ago when I took drivers ed the instructor showed numerous grisly videos and recently I searched you tube to see if I could find any. I distinctly remember "Blood Runs Red on the Highway", but am unable to find it. The intent was to scare the young driver into being safe. I did find the one attached below.

Several years ago I talked with my old drivers ed instructor, long since retired, and asked about the old films he showed. He said they stopped a couple of years after I finished. Said several reasons - might damage kids psychologically, the privacy laws prevented filming modern accidents and the old films involved cars from the 50's thru 60's which modern kids cannot relate to.

Do any of you remember these type of films? They impacted my views of driving. How would modern kids in drivers ed react to this teaching method?

Remember them well. A sergeant from the Missouri Highway Patrol did the sessions on accidents.

Lots of gruesome photos and film, the worst of which was a motorcycle rider that was tailgating a semi. The semi checked up and the biker dodged to the right, hitting a guardrail. His head was separated from his body by about 25'. I still remember his face.

I did sorta OK with the pics and film, although some in the class didn't. What really got to me was the film of a car fire in which the occupants were trapped, and Sgt. Matthews turned on the sound.

My DE class was >37y ago. Thanks for the reminder.

Older, wiser and better looking is what I always say! I took driver's ed 32 years ago. So far never had an accident or a ticket, knock on wood. I just cruise along in the old Crown Victoria blending in and not drawing a lot of attention.

As for the SS vs. the Mustang, I do have two '63 Nova's in the basement garage in pieces...

Now that is another good example of the type of film I am talking about. Seems to me that back then we were taught "action = consequences". No sugar coating. Responsibility and hard work = success. Lack of responsibility and lack of hard work = failure, no money and a tough life. I'm not so sure that young people today are taught the same.
Thoughts?

"Blood on the Highway" Filmed in the late 50's I think. One of the films showed a guy's brains hanging out. The ones we saw were all B&W films so you couldn't make out the blood.

Coach Gary Long taught my driver's ed class in Charlotte in 71. Funny the people you remember.
