Experience / Thoughts on Ramshot X-Terminator for 223/5.56

Good evening all. I've been working (or trying to anyway) on some 223/5.56 loads with Ramshot's X-Terminator powder. I have been trying it mostly for 62 grain projos and heavier through mostly 16-18" barreled AR's with twist rates typically considered acceptable for the weight / length bullet I'm using.

Unfortunately I've yet to find a sub 1" group at 100 yards with any of the bullet/rifle combinations I've tried. I'm not a bullseye shooter, but I can (if I focus) get groups under 1" pretty consistently with these rifles and other powder/bullet combos.

Has anyone else had issues finding a good charge/bullet combo with X-Terminator? Has anyone found it's a particular powder?

I did find some comments on the web that XT seems to do better with light(er) bullets (than I'm using anyway) so I'm finally trying some 55 grain bullets that I intended to sell. Hopefully I'll get to test 25-50 of them this weekend and see if that's the case for my rifles.

Thanks for the discussion and assistance.

Thanks for resurrecting my old thread...forgot I even posted it.

Unfortunately I never ran many "light" bullets as I would consider them (I usually run 62 grain or heavier). I did find that the bulk powder equivalent to H335 meters VERY well and produces particularly good groups with some pulled bonded 62 grain projos. I'm extremely happy with it.

I did end up selling my XT to a buddy along with the vast majority of my 55 grain projos for a reasonable price.

Thanks for the info!!
