A similar subject has probably already been posted here before, but since I'm a newb I thought I'd put the question out there. I like Bud Light myself and when I'm feeling like Thurston Howell III, Louis Winthorp, or one of the Brooks Brothers, I'll drink a Guinness Draught. How bout you beer drinkers out there?

Depends on the occasion, everyday beer is low alcohol, low carb, Michelob Ultra. Sit on the beach with an ice cold one is Corona with a lime slice. If I just want a really good beer or 3 it's local Highland Brewery's Gaelic Ale or their St. Terese's Pale Ale. If it's shoot pool with the guys then I go for Bud Lite draft.
I also like the French Broad Brewery beers, and love to sample all the local stuff at street festivals...but I generally don't like most dark beer.

When I used to drink, my favorite beer was Boont Amber Ale by Anderson Valley Brewing Company. Red Seal, Hobgoblin Ale and some of the beers from Rogue are also excellent in my opinion. For a beer that you can get in just about any grocery store Sam Adams Boston Ale is hard to beat.

I'm a fan of my own home brew, speaking of which I need to use these ingredients I have here for the next batch.

I actually brewed the beer for my own wedding 3 years ago, I did buy some though for my father in law because he prefers michelob.

Other than that, Magic Hat #9 is a favorite, I really like most of the micro brews and locally I like Natty Green's.

I have always loved the taste of beer. I can remember the first drink of beer that I ever had as a young boy. These days, it's Miller Lite or Bud Light. I don't drink that much any more.

Sam Adams here.....

The Value of a Drink

'Sometimes when I reflect back on all the wine I drink
I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think
about the workers in the vineyards and all of their hopes
and dreams . If I didn't drink this wine, they might be out
of work and their dreams would be shattered.
Then I say to myself, 'It is better that I drink this wine and let their
dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver.'
~ Jack Handy

And saving the best for last, as explained by Cliff Clavin, of Cheers.
One afternoon at Cheers, Cliff Clavin was explaining the BuffaloTheory to his buddy Norm.
Here's how it went:

'Well ya see, Norm, it's like this... A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know, kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers.'

WARNING: The consumption of alcohol may make you think you are whispering when you are not

After reading all of the above, I have a new personal rule, 'I WILL NO LONGER WORK DURING DRINKING HOURS.

I have several "favorites" from some micro-brewerys, especially in Colorado(spent some time skiing there)
But just everyday: Yeungling Black & Tan or lager on tap. I especially like Sam Adams Winter Lager(seasonal obviously) Newcastle Brown Ale is good. Of course a Corona with lime. Killians Red is a favorite too. I like the occasional Guiness on tap, not out of a bottle. Asheville's Highland put out a winter seasonal a few years back, Cold Mountain Ale or something...they were excellent but haven't seen them since.

I pretty much don't drink the clear watery buds, lites, millers, etc any more. That's mass quantity-consumption-get drunk beer. Outgrew that life years ago, now TASTE is king and for me, darker beers just have distinctive tastes.

Oh, sorry. OP didn't ask for commentary.

On the rare occasion that a cold beer will hit the spot on a hot summer afternoon, it would have to be Sierra Nevada (brewed in my parents home town Chico CA) or a Widmer Brothers Hefewiezen from Portland Oregon. Portland was the home of over 300 microbrews so I was spoiled before moving south.
