My wife lives in Charlotte and I will be moving once we closing on our house. I need to find a good private range. I shoot USPSA and some IDPA so any range that allows drawing from a holster and shooting steel would be great. I also and reload and I need to learn what's where in the area. I hope you guys can help. I look forward to meet some of you at the local matches.

Welcome! As a former NJ resident, I found it rather ironic that in many ways, it was easier to find good outdoor shooting clubs in NJ that it is in the Charlotte area. CRPC is the only game in town for outdoor ranges for rifle, pistol, shotgun, action, etc. SC has free 25/100 yd ranges on their State Park property (Google DNR ranges / SC).

Great gun shows in Charlotte (at the Metrolina Expo Center - Forget the shows at The Park). Best part is the billboards all over town advertising the shows!!

BTW: I grew up in Parsippany. Did most of my shooting at Cherry Ridge with ANJRPC. What about you?

I live in Parsippany and am a member at Cherry Ridge so that makes two Mikes from Parsippany on the forum.

As for those of you that tell me not to change the South, I completely agree with you. I can see I will have to straighten out some former NJ residents living in NC. It will involve telling them that if they want NC to be like NJ, they should have stayed in NJ. I left NJ to get away from the oppressive taxes, leftist politics and insane drivers. Of course, as a southerner, I will have to do it politely.

What do former NJ residents in NC say: I want higher taxes, ruder drivers, more corrupt politics and a nanny state? If that is the case, I volunteer to go to their houses, take lots of their money, tell them how to run their lives and tell them to STFU.

For starters, plenty of transplants from the northeast bring their anti-gun mindset with them. These people are probably shocked and terrified when they see someone open carrying. I worry that as more of them come down here, they will push for more gun control in NC.

Yup. They've screwed their state up and like locusts move to the next target :(
