As one who has participated in a number of firearm competitions, I have a very fond place for the 1911. Tiptoeing into the IDPA game, I have, as usual, done a lot of research into how I set up my 1911 for this competition. With my Type A personality, I always have to find a better way.
In a recent discussion with a much better pistolero, we started on recoil. I wanted to know how did shooters set up their weapons to calm recoil via powder, bullets, parts, with the power factor that is required so I said "The web".
Setting down about 6:00pm, I am now writing this. I have been reading some amazing information on a couple of websites. Specifically M1911.org.
DANG!!!!!!!!
I realized after a few minutes when I met him that the man probably knew a bunch about the 1911. I knew he had to be a gunsmith. You know. Succint. No suttleness here. :) But little did I know how much of a reputation 1911Tuner enjoys. I have been reading new and old posts that are full of information. The firing pin stop is an interesting read. I will order a couple.
Tuner, I come to knee humbly. Seriously.
You need to write that book Tuner. I want a couple or three also. Of course, autographed. I think we need another lesson. Can I bring some Dickel?

I haven't met Tuner, but I did buy an old Colt he worked over...it's the best shooting piece I own.
Yea Tuner, how about a class? I'd love to sit and learn from ya, bet a bunch more would too!!!
If you do one, I'm first in line.....you put the coffee on, I'll bring the ham biscuits

Well...Okay. We'll do it. First, I'd like to get RC back here by himself because he's got a little issue with his Colt LW Commander that really needs to be addressed. If I've got too many here, I won't be able to focus on gettin' it hashed out.

By the way, RC...ya never said...Does it feed hollowpoints now, or does it still need a little more tweakin'?

nawwww, I think you are correct in saying when the guy tricked it he did not realize working on the ramp caused a problem. They will usually go horizontal into the ramp and stop. As my usual carry gun, I would not use anything but hardball. It will function with lead RNFP and truncated cone.
Hey, you guys line it up and we will bring the eatin's and drinks.

Talk foody to me!

Okay...I can accommodate four at a time...'cause that's all the chairs I got at the kitchen table. It'll be a basic tutorial on how and why the gun functions, along with a cursory detail strip for them that ain't seen it happen. Question & Answer before, during, and at the end with detailed explanations on request. I prefer weekdays but weekends are an option for those who can't make it during the week. As early as possible is best for me, because afternoons get hectic around here with 17 dogs to tend to...plus I gotta get a short nap after lunch due to my habit of bein' outta the rack at 0400, and I ain't as young as I used to be. 0900 works well. PM for directions, giving your start location and the route you'll take into Lexington. I-40 to 52...US-64...Or I-85.
