I just shed a couple tears.

Why can't they edit or amend the weapon history, verify they were confiscated, and then resale them to the public for a profit? We do it with everything else (cars, desk, etc. etc)!
Because as soon as someone used the weapon improperly or killed someone (legit shooting or not) the municipality would get raked over the coals by the media and the left.

...and what politician i.e. Mayor or Police Chief wants any association with that when you can simply melt them down?

I think I would aim poorly when my coworker wasn't watching. There's got to be a way to get down near the bottom of that thing to pick up the missed stuff every once in a while.
I thought the same thing...there's a pretty big gap between the cauldron and the platform...and that's a pretty far toss...more than a few might end up bouncing off the side and "falling between the cracks."

LMAO. That was the very first thing I noticed too. It takes a jarhead to look at a mans shoes.
Ha, that's how we used to pick out Mooj, boots or tennis shoes instead of sandals........probably Mooj.

how do those two men live with themselves..i would quit if i was told that was my task for the day!
Feds I's say, they damn sure aren't steel workers. Look at the slacks and shoes. (edit to say I didn't read Frmr0317's post before making mine. He already pointed out the shoes. :) )
Shame for sure. You would think that in a world that was worth a **** we'd have a program where instead of destroying guns like this we'd put them towards military training or you know how kids get to do air gun stuff ? They could be taught gun safety and learn shooting basics and it would not cost nearly as much to put these types of things in motion when the guns are already there. Shame.

doubtful...they're throwing them into a cauldron

it does suck, but you gotta expect most of them are cheap highpoints or rossi's anyways...since they were turned in for the gun buy back program....if they were worth more than the $100 Target gift card they were traded for...

Those sure dont look like high points to me... not all of them anyways. Im pretty sure i see a glock, smiths, etc.

Prob poor widows taking in their dead hubby's gems not knowing anything. I read an article about guys who stay on the look out for buy backs, go there and stand about 200 ft in front of the table and cherry pick what people bring in... and there is nothing anyone can do to stop it! private sale to legal citizens... I have heard stories of old lady's bringin in SWEET pieces to these things. One guy bought a mark 11 in the box for a c note lol

Foundries use furnaces and ladles, witches use caldrons. The mess they come up with will likely be a slaggy, porous and useless. They are mixing ferrous and non ferrous metals which will result in a ruined furnace lining.

its stupid all the way around.

I would go to work EVERYDAY smiling ear to ear....I'd also bring my lunch in a 55 quart cooler, and wear my big coat everyday.

Does anyone have a list of which states hold gun buy backs? Be interesting to get the contract for destruction and negotiate terms that allow sale outside the jurisdiction, or even outside the country.

Can't say that melting them is a very efficient method for destroying them.
