I thought I would post up my experience with my recent purchase of the UTG Pro Super Slim handguard. It has been talked about a few time on here with some folks frowning on it because it is made by UTG which has a history of being less than stellar. I based my purchase on good reviews that others had posted on this and other forums. To be honest I have never even owned anything by UTG because of their reputation so it is hard to give a comparison of their other products. UTG seemed to have stepped up their game and has opened up a manufacturing facility in the US. This hand guard is part of their UTG Pro line which is made in the US.

Average retail is around the $125 range for this hand guard and comes with three picatinny rails.

It utilizes a proprietary barrel nut and includes the necessary wrench. Once you get everything off it is fairly straight forward to install with good detailed instructions with pictures. It took me about 30 min to install.

Overall the quality is great with good fit and finish. It mounts very solid and seems like it will be sturdy. I am pleased with it so far and think for the money it is a great value compared to what other brands in this style of hand guard sales for.

Slim Madness is upon us! You must accept it for the good deal that it is, and quit making fun of those who are saving a buck.

Try a slim one, you may like it, and the slim one may give you more pleasure.

Those words are not really assuring when you can buy Midwest Industries for a little more
Midwest 15" is $189.00 with shipping and I got this one for $129.00 shipped. That is a $60 dollar difference which to me is a pretty good savings. But Midwest also looks like a good deal for the money if someone wants to spend a bit more.

cranbiz was mentioning this yesterday. Seems like the MI has gone up in price from last year; either that or I caught a really good sale.

Amazon has the 15" (Rifle Length) UTG Pro SS for $99.79 with free shipping right now http://www.amazon.com/Leapers-Model...3?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1399052924&sr=1-3-catcorr&keywords=pro+handguard+super+slim

Or a MI G2 SS 15" Handguard for $169.69 with $10.95 Shipping.

I personally like the look of the MI handguard but the UTG was a pleasant surprise. Dave did well and opened a lot of eyes with it. I can't use one in the new build as they don't make a 7" handguard. If they did, I would give it serioud consideration.

STAFF EDIT: This is a listing mistake by Amazon. It shows the pic to the one I bought but the one listed for $99.99 is a different one. Check the actual part number for reference to what you are getting.
