I've spoken to people at work who are interested in IP security cameras, how to set them up, which to get, software, servers, etc. and I imagine there are some people on here who have questions.

Would anyone be interested in a (free) class on IP cameras?

I'm not a security expert, just a nerd who's played with some cameras, but wouldn't mind giving back to the community by sharing what I've learned an in in-person setting. Perhaps showing people how some software works, the various types of IP cameras and technologies (wired, wireless, PoE, EoP, wifi routers/APs, motion capture, etc), what I've found works, how to wire things, etc. Maybe some IP networking basics, how to access your cameras from the internet/smart phone, how to make ethernet cables, some basics on securing the camera network, how to position them...

I don't sell cameras, software, PCs, installation or anything, so there is no marketing angle here.

Also, if someone does this for a living then I'll not step on your business.

It's an older pic from this winter, but this gives you the idea of how you can turn your home "into a prison" (per the wife). I've replaced a bunch and added a few since then:

I run blue iris as well :D absolutely love it. My old place I ran over 14 wired and wireless cameras with a 24 terabyte storage unit attached.

Looks like enough interest to get started.

What I'll do is write up an agenda to solidify what's in the class, and then pick a few dates and see what people can make and figure out where we can hold it.

My goal is to make this a face-to-face class.

Give me to Sunday to put the agenda together as I'm running around a lot for work this week and actually have to work vs just goofing off in the office working on my class. :)

Tagged as well. If my work schedule allows, I'd be interested.

I'm running 8 Hikvision ip cams on a 16 channel NVR with 4tb drive, going to upgrade that to 16tb soon.... I haven't played with it a whole lot but already know some things I would do differently if I was to do it all over.

I'm interested. Mostly because I've been researching baby monitors... wife is due later this month but the choices are overwhelming. I dont want to hijack this thread but if you can PM me and point me in the right direction that would be awesome.
