This email came from HR yesterday. Seems like too much of a coincidence.

Hello all,

We have been informed that the Colonial Pipeline Greensboro Tank Farm will be hosting a PLANNED Training exercise conducted by the National Guard to test the capabilities and coordination of local, state and federal agencies in responding to a large scale emergency at a major facility. You will see the National Guard, law enforcement and military vehicles along with helicopters.

Please do not be ALARMED. It is a ONLY a training exercise.

When: July 15-20, 2015

Thank you.

My office is near the south side of the tank farm. I pass by some of the gates occasionally and sometimes will see a DHS vehicle or a local police car(s) sitting at these gates. I don't see them all of the time, just off and on now and then. It's not the actual tank farm I'd be concerned about however. It's the pipeline and the associated valves along the line that I'd be concerned about if it were up to me.

My buddy in the marine reserves is at Lejeune, they were rolling down I-40 with the fully armed convoy last I heard. I'm sure he's in on this.

That is weird. Just a blue screen too, nothing that gives any excuse.

Here's something from TIMS NC DOT
Boulder Rd Both Directions
Special Event
Road Closed with Detour
Boulder Rd will be closed to through traffic between Burnt Poplar Rd and Chimney Rock Rd due to a Law Enforcement training exercise.

The only reason stuff like this bothers me is that the last few times training went on bad things happened within miles of it.

I'm so glad that peckerhead David Douglas retired. He had one of his minions write me a ticket once for starting a show when the firetruck wasn't present, but it was his guys who moved the truck during a rain delay for no reason other than to be "visible to the public". Contractually the truck was to be onsite the entire time the site was "hot" (explosives on site) except in the event of another emergency. They also weren't in contact with the event sponsor, so when it was "go time" they were unaware. I gave the ticket to my pyro boss, who in turn gave it to Betty Cone (sponsor).....and the ticket simply vanished.

I just got back from the post office up on W. Market. I drove up Tarrant to Chimney Rock and then crossed the Boulder Rd. bridge over to Burnt Poplar then back over to Chimney Rock and up to W. Market. That's the route I normally take to the Post office. I didn't see anything unusual, not even one police car.

Something's different. Just saw 3 Cabarrus SO deputies sitting in front of Fire Station #2 for Midland on Hwy 49. Just sitting there with lights on, blocking thr entrance.

Saw 3 other ones huddled up yesterday at a vacant business of 601, just milling around.
CC sheriffs deputies? Now that is different. Usually it's the city cops just sitting in a parking lot doing nothing. I have some friends that are deputies. I will have to ask around.

Hey guys, a topic in my area of expertise. I was at the Tank fire. I used to contract for CPL and now work for another company in the industry. That farm is the largest on the east coast, but as stated earlier, the pipeline is the main concern. They fly over multiple times a week and offer cash rewards to citizens who report suspicious activity and leaks. In this industry, we have drills multiple times a year, however, they normally do not involve the national guard. Typically NO notice is given. The main .gov involved is the EPA. However, CPL and only a small handful of others are willing to help the local state and fed governments when they ask. I wouldn't mind knowing if anyone near Greensboro catches some of the exercise on tape or pics.

So the convoy's can't be tracked or targeted. A couple of stories about that...

Years ago, in my IT life, I was contracted to do a project for SCDOT. One of my task was to technically document the SCDOT highway fiber optic backbone camera system. This camera system allows the central office to visually track any vehicle(s), on the major highways, from the moment it(they) enters the state, to the moment it leaves. Continuous coverage. Every camera is within view of another camera. Specific targets to observe could be nuclear waste shipments coming through the state. It was originally designed as a highway safety enhancement. They have a reciprocal agreement with the NCDOT cameras, so they can actually start tracing before something enters the state. I believe some of the feeds are accessible but new agencies, etc. NCDOT has since installed a similar system. I don't know the extent, but I have been to the monitoring center here in Charlotte. It's like a war room out of a sci-fi movie with a huge wall of flat screen monitors. When SCDOT's went in, they were still using CRT's.
So, my question is, did the cameras go offline or just public access to them?

I have an associate that tells the story of a friend who was on the inter-coastal waterway when they encountered a small convoy of military vessels. They were asked heave to or whatever the nautical term is for pulling over. They were escort vehicles for a submarine. (Can you have a sub on the inter-coastal waterway?) Someone on the boat noticed that their GPS as gone off line. It didn't return until the convoy had passed them for some distance.

I work in South Charlotte very near to the police and fire training center.
I saw lots of vehicles and personnel yesterday on site, as well as a helicopter circling very low overhead.
A girl in the office saw a bunch of guys wearing balaclavas running across the road on her way back from lunch.

I just noticed after work today the big electronic signs on the Boulder Rd. bridge about it being closed Friday through Sunday this coming weekend. I was curious so I drove over there to see if anything had changed since my first post. They may have been there when I was on my way to the post office today and I just didn't pay attention. I went that route on the the way to the post office, but returned on a different route. @Don would you and your wife like to come back over this weekend and watch some more of those rocket launches?:D
