So I make a WTB for a handgun in the handgun section and ask it NOT to be moved.

Of course some mod moves it to the wanted section.

This is not why im asking for the section to be deleted.
Im asking it because few if anyone goes in there. I sell stuff constantly and honestly have been in there twice to look.

This means my WTB ad is being seen by less than 10% of the possible sellers. I really need this handgun and now feel my chances of getting a response are about as good as it snowing tomorrow(infact my money is on the snow)

I really think its time for it to go and just allow WTB in the WTS section.

What say you?

Right now there are 30 people viewing the handgun section.
There are 2 viewing the Wanted.

There are currently three people in here, too, so you've more than doubled your audience by posting this thread.

I hate WTB's in the WTS forum. But I still agree with you. The want to buy forum is pretty close to dead.

I don't understand what the problem is. If I need dry foods, I look in my kitchen cabinets. If I need refrigerated foods, I look in my refrigerator. If I am interested in what people are selling, I look in the WTS section. If I am interested of getting rid of something, I put it up for sale in the appropriate section after I look to see if someone is looking for it in the WTB section. If people want to see what other people are looking for, they are going to look in the WTB section.

I have found that 90% of the time you answer someone's WTB ad, they don't respond anyway. I still go there to look every once in a while. If you absolutely need a gun RIGHT NOW, go to the gun store or do a harder search through what is for sale.

Been to 10 gun stores, gunbroker and 4 other forums. If I want to get one new I can spend $240, then $35 for shipping then $20 for a transfer fee and the gas to get there another $5.Thats $300 for a gun thats selling used for $150.

I sell way more than you do here and I honestly have been in the WTB maybe 2 times because tbh the chances someone in there wanting a ww2 sniper scope are very low, so I dont bother unless im board. Rather than find the right buyer for my item I would let the buyer come to me by posting where EVERYONE looks.

Its like trying to find the fish vs going to where the fish all are.

Your opinion, and its appreciated.
But the fact that 80 people view the WTS area while 4 are viewing the WTB.. Thats all the proof I need its a waste of my time.

Im willing to meet in the middle if we can just stop moving peoples threads. If I want a WTB in the handguns section then leave it there.

How much you have sold here, and the correlation you are attempting to make because YOU decide not to look in the WTB section means absolutely nothing. If you have been to all those places, and looked so fervently, what makes you think that such a small audience here is going to make a difference in your search?

There are more people that DON'T want WTB ads in the WTS section, because that section is for looking at stuff that people are selling. That is why it is called the WTS section.

And you are saying because you do look in the WTB it makes a difference?
If stores like walmart were restricted to advertising in newspapers only they would go out of business.
Why? Because how many people read newspapers these days.. I dont.

Again your opinion as I have mine.
I dont look in the WTB section because theres simply never a person asking for a rare Mosin Nagant, they would just PM me or another member about aquiring one.

I am one of the people who find WTB ads in the trader annoying. I see the title and am like "wow that interests me" and sees the WTB and get ticked. But it is such a rarity.
Thats why the titles get labeled WTB WTS WTT. So people can see the difference.

I'm all for keeping the WTB section separate from WTS. When I do have something to sell, I often check the WTB section before posting a WTS. I've even got rid of some loading components that way. If others don't want to go check those ads, its their business.

I say leave it like it is. It will cause more "bumping" than their already is. I do like the idea of wtb in the sig. As far as I'm aware of there's no "bump police" . I like to keep it that way. I think everybody is behaving just fine.

It doesn't matter to me, I use the new posts button so I see all the new posts, regardless of section its in... Easiest way to keep up.

Seems like a lot of energy being expended on a topic that isnt hurting anyone in great numbers. If a section doesnt apply, ignore it. As distastful as it is, there are wanted sections on Craigslist. I just dont think having a wanted section is a waste. Use it or dont use it, your choice. Choices are good! Just my two cents.

I check the wtb section every time I'm here. It only takes a couple more minutes and it's full of people looking for stuff. :)

My post makes a lot less sense now that this thread is in here.

I check the WTB section daily. Sorry, but I say keep 'em separate. WTB ads in the WTS section annoy the hell out of me.
