Just saw that the East Coast match has been cancelled, that sucks, was a good match last year. If anyone has made plans to be in the area anyway, you are invited to join us at "The Range" in Oxford, NC on Sunday the 16th of October for a special ZSA match. Mel and I are getting married during the match and it will be a great, safe, fun time for all who attend. ZSA rules apply (all 3 of them) and the shotgun raffle will be drawn as well as a bunch of other cool stuff to give away donated by local friends and supporters.
This will be the best wedding you have been to. Pig Pickin' after the match just like we do after the Carolina Cup and then the other fun can begin. Please attend, open to all, details as to round count, stages ect will be on the website within the next few weeks. Working on Zombie based wedding stages.
We will run this as a "ZAP" Zombie Action Pistol, not the regular "ZAG" Zombie All Gun to keep it simple on gear. Ideas and old bridesmade gowns that need to be shot up always welcome.

We still have our monthly match IDPA on the 16th (3rd Sunday) we are not closed as noted on my post. Plus our monthly Saturday match on that weekend.

No lost weekend
JohnZSr, Was an IDPA event added to the Caswell schedule, just so they could take away from shooters who would probably have joined us at a Zombie Match? More importantly a match that will include the wedding of the two founders of the Zombie Shooters Association (you and Mel), plenty of prizes and a great celebration.

From my vantage, Caswell's response appears to be in very poor taste and done in an underhanded manner.

JohnZSr, I am sorry this issue has happened. But know I always have your back!

Well as this is meant to be about our wedding and not an IDPA match at Caswell,,,,, 'nuf said, I will take the high road.
And while I agree that sometimes you must take the high road, there are other times you need to put people in their place, or they will consistently show their true colors!

I have never shot at Caswell, don't know any of the people there, and have no reason to venture to their matches. Especially now.

Just want to say John Z, how cool to have a wedding on the Range. I am looking forward to it and get to shoot a Zombie Shooter Association match on the same day! Great people getting married then shooting with great people! How many people have been to a wedding on a gun range then got to build your skills shooting Zombies (looking a lot like cardboard targets) all in the same day! I think it is cooler then the big event across the big pond a while ago.. who was that that got married? Some king or was it the musician Prince? ;)

Well be there!!

John Z. Like how you encourage new people at the ZSA matches to try both IDPA and USPSA. Zombie Shooters Association is a gateway for new shooters. Simple rules, let you shoot what ever gun you have that is safe and focus on good basic safety skills. I hope the IDPA and USPSA community understands how you are helping them. I am proud to be invited to your wedding.

I need to add that I learned about both IDPA and USPSA from ZSA and have enjoyed shooting both. Except with IDPA I sometimes have bad dreams about blue barrels attacking me when I am hiding behind them (grin).

You got us all figured out Thomas, we have brought many new shooters to Sir Walter for USPSA, as Martin will attest to and even more to The Range in Oxford, for IDPA, as Frank will attest to. Not sure how many will be steered towards other IDPA match in the not so near area, at least on our Wedding Day

Weekend is Not Lost......

This is great news John Z, congrats, this could not happen to better people.

John and Mel have been great friends and mentors to me over the past year and have taken me to many of the local matches at the different ranges, including Caldwell, and honestly I think he has a great range up there, the bays were pretty good and the matches were challenging, but honestly one of the main reasons I stopped going was when USPSA was removed from the schedule, which is my preferred game of choice, next to ZSA.

It is a shame that some people can not congratulate a fellow shooter for such a wonderful occasion. I have found that the shooting community in this area is a pretty tight nit group and it is a bit upsetting that some people have to step all over this.

I can understand that everyone has to try to make a living, and whether or not there was a IDPA match scheduled on the same day or not really is not the point, and honestly, Dean whether you would have attended or postponed your match is really irrelevant, but you know you could at least show your support for a fellow local competitor for his wedding announcement or at least a little professional and not be stepping all over someones great news.

So I will be there supporting my friends on their special day, and looks like I will be able to have a little fun, shooting guns, some good food, and telling stories with fellow competitors, and good friends.

John, first thing, I wish you and Mel luck for the future.
If your intent was a post about your wedding then the header should have read come join us at our wedding, Lost weekend should not be the header for a wedding, wedding/match. To me this is another example of you using someones problem to get yourself another zombie plug, to put it all together with your wedding is sad.

Anyway as I noted above, I wish you both many years.

Glockster35,
The IDPA match is our normal monthly (read monthly) match, anytime you wish to come put me in my place, please feel free to drop in and do that.

Really? As much as I might like the thought of doing so, I cannot come up with any reason to support your range. Obviously it is not managed by anyone I care to associate with, seeing how you hijacked this thread for personal gain. I believe what you have done is in poor taste. Obviously there is some animosity between you and John Z Sr. I don't think this thread is the place to rectify this.

John Z Sr took the high road, in a post he titled as he saw fit. Who are you to dictate to anyone else how they should title their posts? I don't think anyone was aware you bought the rights to CSF. If this is the case, feel free to delete my account.

You could have easily created your own thread indicating you had a match on the day your East Coast Match was originally scheduled for. But you didn't, you choose to post in this thread. If you need directions on how to create a new thread in the Shooting Sports Section of the forum, please ask a moderator.

I don't expect you to see the error in your ways, some people just cannot understand internet message board forum etiquette.

You will probably get all bent out of shape about this post. I don't know you, and you surely don't know me. The funny thing about the internet is, that you cannot tell my intent from what I have written. I may be sitting here laughing my ass off as I wrote this, or I could be absolutely serious about what I wrote. And as you are reading it, you are steaming mad. So be it! It's all up to interpretation, and each of us will do that on our own, and be responsible for how we read it as an individual.

I personally think it was in poor taste to add something to anothers thread that was already posted. There's plenty of room for all the shooting disciplines. In that regard the NC Sections web page, a page that was primarially started to promote USPSA, has opened our doors to all disciplines, be it USPSA, IDPA, Zomibies, Gun Fighter league, etc.
We all can be loyal to our sports and our friends without having these "add on" advertisements on anothers post..Nuff said.

Good note.

All this bitching and backstabbing does is turn off folks that MIGHT have been thinking about shooting at either place. A couple of the posts are pretty far over the line for even me...and I'm a crusty ol' turd.

Exactly trcubed, lets all just get out and shoot what we want where we want and bring a friend along with us. The East Coast match is a great one, I had the honor and privaledge to not only shoot it last year, but also worked it as an SO. The temporary loss of this match this year sucks for the shooters and IDPA, and hope that Dean can get it resolved quickly for himself and the shooting community.
I have no intent here, or anywhere else of putting down Dean or anyone else in the sports, we are all part of the shooting community, Dean is one of the best all around shooters you will find and hosts some good events.
Take your frustrations out on the "down zero" "alpha" or "good" zones of your chosen target at your favorite place, do it safely and have some fun, and bring out a new shooter along the way.
