Shipped February 8, 1903 per Cody Firearms records. Marlin model 1898 Shotgun. Takedown. 12 gauge. Marlin only made these from 1898 to 1903 to my knowledge (5 years). The 1898 just couldn't compete with the 1897 Winchester back in the day I guess. Good bore. 2 5/8" chambers. I've shot 2.5 inch Polywad Vintagers through her and I've also shot my own 2.5" blackpowder loads that I put together. Requires minimum of 2 1/2 dram loads to unlock the recoil block mechanism....otherwise you have to push the bolt/slide release button to pump. Ask me about this if you have any questions. I thoroughly flushed the bore after shooting black powder loads and then dried and oiled afterwords. Shoots great. All safeties built into this gun/design have been tested and are fully functional. I did this before shooting to ensure safety. Main thing is to use proper loads. Has a nice patina. Wood in good shape. All original minus the recoil pad added a long time ago. Nice smooth action and trigger pull. Face to face in or around Lexington/Thomasville/High Point NC area. Raleigh and East Coast travel on 12/31. All laws followed. Thanks, Neal. 180.00

Bump. I know guys who have spent 200.00 for a wallhanger-non functional gun for a man cave or to go above their fireplace. This one works and has a good bore and good stock for 200.00. Someone take it soon before I just decide to keep it and load more shells for her. She's 113 years old but still ticking.
