Probably a fair amount. The question will be who is doing the digging. If the police want to, they could easily come in there with backhoes and tear up a guys entire property in search of buried guns, just to make a point.

Seen similar things happen with drug searches in cars.

Doesn't make sense, that letter is dated January 2, the original application must have been received/post marked prior to the 2nd
Agreed. If a letter is postmarked on the 1st, it couldn't have been processed and received in time for this letter to be sent Jan 2. Unless they had it ready to go and dated it the 2nd, and sent it after all processing was completed.

So if these residents are caught with said "assault weapon" because of wanting to keep them. What happens.....I guess at some point a resident would draw a line in the sand and say "Not No but Hell No" and become an evil person.
Well if they are making people who have harmed no one felons, some of those people may decide to 'earn' a real felony.

didn't get your registration application in on time? well turn them in, sell them, or destroy them. we the state know what you have now and will be by to verify.

There's an app for that.

Google dynamic entry. On a practical side, can't go to the range with it, can't transport it without risk, and can't keep it at your house with risk either. Those that don't comply, will be SOL in the training field were the authorities to come knocking.

Add that to the fact that the police ain't going to come knocking on the hard core anti government Navy Seal's house. No, it will be the school teacher, or waitress with 3 kids at home and no intent to cause any body any harm.

Move out and regroup. Too many people care too little up there for anything to happen but martyrism.

This is merely an observation. It is not meant to insult.

We've had numerous threads here on "what would happen if..." scenarios.

Well it happened here. It looks like the entire state government is just getting in line and getting on with it. No local sheriffs standing up saying "NO!" defiantly. No widespread refusing to enforce this registration. I don't think that will change. I am very interested to see if letters like this lead to confiscations. Will there be no knock raids? Will there be warrantless searches? Will there be searches with warrants but dragging folks like us out at gun point because they refused to register? I have no clue what will happen next, but it will be interesting to see. I truly hate it for these folks in CT.

Mr Cooke is a real piece of work. He cannot claim "just doing my job." He is just as guilty as the lawmakers.

Simple solution, move the hell out of the state of Connecticut.
Or.....

Stay, if you so desire, and decide for yourself if you wish to remain free, as opposed to letting the state make the decision for you.

Rolling over for tyranny only begets more tyranny.

It's time (actually, it is way overdue) for despots to become well acquainted with hearing the word, "NO."

^^^^Precisely this.

Here it is, gentlemen. Tyranny delivered on official letterhead, and being enforced by those sworn to protect and serve. This makes it awfully clear who they're protecting and serving......and We, the People it ain't.

Indeed it is. But we, the People must be ready for "NO" being the last word or thing may find ourselves living in interesting times indeed.

Its going to be an interesting situation to watch unfold in the next year. Will there be no-knocks, SWAT raids, etc? Will gun owners give up their hidden weapons and try to plea for a lighter sentence? Will some go out guns blazing?

You can belive, the govt is watching this situation just as intently as we are. And how things go down in CT will direct how things go in the rest of the country.

Many folks talk a big game about "cold dead hands" and "cops/soldiers would never do that"...Well, guys, we're about see the truth come out.

The media will be all over any situation to let the towns and neighborhood know why the State personel came to a home to get the evil people that own guns and didnt do the proper paperwork or did and then decided to confiscate. That person will be a terroist, bad guy, etc. Man these are sad days for sure.

If there were a free state around CT, a cross border warehouse where one could lose one's firearms for a small fee until one found them again might be profitable. I guess PA and NH are the closest still partially free states.

situations such as these are exactly what the irregular militia was intended to combat. you can not stave off the power of the state by yourself.

One can't help but wonder...what if it were to happen here? I'd speculate more, but this isn't the minefield. :)

I'm not calling those folks up there out. That's a tough damn decision! "Register now or go to jail!!!!" We all know registering is the first step towards confiscation. Very ugly situation and we will learn a whole damn bunch about where people stand once this registration period is over and they start trying to enforce known violations. I'm willing to bet there will be overzealous reactions on the enforcement end and they'll be portrayed as folks "just doing their jobs."

Special Licensing and Firearms Unit. Sheesh. Disgusting.

Why do you think Drypowder is investing in 3D printer companies as we speak?
