BMWs are all Ive ever seen

 

I wonder if it could have been a seizure repurposed by the state or a local department?

 

I don't seem to ever see Troopers on motorcycles around here.

Yeah never heard or seen them on anything lately but a BMW. Just not their style! Lol

 

It was much closer to this Hayabusa than the BMW.

If it was an asset forfeiture than its a possibility. But having owned an R1 for a few years you can have a sport bike! I couldn't stand to ride mine more than 30 minutes, much less in uniform!

 

Most agencies are riding the BMW's now...just like SHP. Those that arent are still on Harleys. We had Harleys for a minute but for the past several years we have had Beemers. I dont think they have true crotch rockets but that totally rules out them trying one out...which is totally plausible.

 

Maryland State Patrol had a few guys on Hayabusas when I lived up there back in the early 2000's. They were all black unmarked.

 

Would I have to ride bitch and hang my boxers out if he were taking me jail???

 

The posture required to ride a sport bike all day would exacerbate my occasional hemorrhoids.

That would increase the pain one already experiences when a large insect enters one's mouth (at speed) and exits one's anus (at equal speed).

 

I saw Huntersville got some new Harleys. Dang near saw them in action in my mirror....

 

A busa is more comfortable than any Harley if you are taller than 5ft 5

 

I'm wondering if they have the personnel that have the skills to match the capability of the bike.

 

Many of the guys I've met have the skills to out ride and catch most sport bikes riders especially on those new BMWs!

BMW's and Gold Wings around here. And, yes, those guys can ride.

 

SCHP rides Honda ST1300's.

 

That's surprising considering their connection with BMW.

 

The Honda ST1300s are popular among police in the triad.

 

This is what I have seen.
If they wanted the fastest, lightest sport bike for police use they'd be using the EBR 1190RX. It is beating the GSXR's on the race circuit.
Stock, it is just under 400# and 185hp.

 

They don't want the fastest and lightest. They want something that is comfortable for all day shifts, has enough electrical output to power radios, lights, and sirens and handles well.

 

I could have sworn I saw one on a Kawasaki Concourse in NC.

 

I used to see the Kawasaki, but now it's more Honda. I suppose it's just like their car fleet, there's more than a few different models.

 

The PD here at work ride Kawasaki bikes. They had the bmw and a few Harley's before these and they seem to like them. Say their really fast.

They also shouldn't carry guns. Unnecessary.

 

pretty sure SCHP still uses BMW bikes as well. back when BMW opened they even had a BMW patrol car

 

My bil was at a dedication ceremony today for his uncle who was a SCHP that was killed in the line of duty. The SCHP motor officers there were riding Honda ST's.

 

I had a business trip over in Los Angeles and saw a BMW with the AR mounted to it. I turned around just to get another look at it. He didn't look like the talkative type so I kept right on moving...but it was definitely different seeing an AR mounted to the bike like that.

 

Yep, they have had them for some time. I was out there for a wedding in '08 and saw one. They seem to be quite popular in SOCAL. I suppose they learned something from the BofA North Hollywood shootout.

 

Yamaha has offered the fjr1300 as a leo bike too.
