I guess I am on the opposite side of your thinking. For the past five years or so, I could never figure out why companies sent me a catalog when I obviously put my order in through the internet. The websites provide up to date stock information, with current prices, and once you are done ordering, you usually know within a few hours, exactly when to expect the package in the event you need to make arrangements to pick it up, sign for it, or have someone else put it in the house for you while you are gone.

 

I'm with 613jmm, I do everything online. Paper catalogs or flyers just get thrown away. They take up space when I can simply look up whatever I want online from my pc or phone and find more up to date info plus it's easier to search. They should allow you to buy a catalog for like $2 with any order. I forget who does this but it sounds like a good way to go.

I find stuff easier on the website. We still have the brownells catalog for bathroom fodder.

 

i just like having the catalog on hand so that when i'm doin 2 i can "build" guns...makes my poo much more enjoyable

Agreed on that. I don't know why or who they redesigned it for...but it really sucks. I couldn't find a particular set of heinie sights by using their selections. I had to use google-fu to search their website.

The brownells catalog sucks, too. You look in the index for something like "rifle sights" and you get something like:

"rifle sights....pg 102-110, 196, 157, 155, 23, 72, 56, 433, 99, 101, 202, 303, 405, 333, 654, 2"

I see your point - I guess my age may be showing a bit. If I already know what I want from Midway, no problem using the net. However, browsing a paper catalog shows me a lot of neat stuff I didn't even know exists that I'd likely never find by browsing on the net.

Those catalogs are expensive to produce and mail. Over the years more and more companies have gotten away from them.

 

That catalog nearly doubled the shipping amounts on some orders when it was "included" in your order.

 

Bad move.

While reading the Master Catalog on the throne, I found things I didn't even know I needed, and ordered them.
You don't know what you don't know and catalogs are a good way to know things you didn't know and then order them.
Now you know.

only problem is....when you are out of T-paper, you can't use the tablet....but the catalog.......just like the old sears and roebuck.....
