In years past, I always looked forward to getting a new Midway catalog around the 1st of January but I never got one this year. Many of my purchasing decisions were made whilst perusing the Midway catalog lying in bed or whilst sitting upon the throne.

No more.

I e-mailed Larry and asked him WTF ?? (actually I inquired in a gentlemanly fashion)

Here's the response................

"Thank you for your recent email about our catalog. As more and more of our Customers turn to the internet, our focus is serving you through digital publications, Eblasts, and our website at www.midwayusa.com As such, we no longer offer a printed Master Catalog.

Our master catalog will remain available in pdf format in our website "Catalog Center":
https://www.midwayusa.com/Account.mvc/CatalogCenter
And, as always, our website will continue to present our full inventory with up-to-date pricing and availability.

If you have any additional questions or comments, please feel free to contact us at 1-800-243-3220. Our hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. CT. You may also email us at customerservice@midwayusa.com.

Thanks for Your Business!"

Maybe I'm old and set in my ways but I'm way more likely to spot something I want or need or something I didn't even know I needed by flipping through a printed catalog than navigating through web pages.

Warning Shot,

I guess I am on the opposite side of your thinking. For the past five years or so, I could never figure out why companies sent me a catalog when I obviously put my order in through the internet. The websites provide up to date stock information, with current prices, and once you are done ordering, you usually know within a few hours, exactly when to expect the package in the event you need to make arrangements to pick it up, sign for it, or have someone else put it in the house for you while you are gone.

I'm with 613jmm, I do everything online. Paper catalogs or flyers just get thrown away. They take up space when I can simply look up whatever I want online from my pc or phone and find more up to date info plus it's easier to search. They should allow you to buy a catalog for like $2 with any order. I forget who does this but it sounds like a good way to go.

In other news. I hate Brownells website, especially the mobile site. Midway is much easier to navigate.
Agreed on that. I don't know why or who they redesigned it for...but it really sucks. I couldn't find a particular set of heinie sights by using their selections. I had to use google-fu to search their website.

The brownells catalog sucks, too. You look in the index for something like "rifle sights" and you get something like:

"rifle sights....pg 102-110, 196, 157, 155, 23, 72, 56, 433, 99, 101, 202, 303, 405, 333, 654, 2"

I see your point - I guess my age may be showing a bit. If I already know what I want from Midway, no problem using the net. However, browsing a paper catalog shows me a lot of neat stuff I didn't even know exists that I'd likely never find by browsing on the net.

I agree about the Brownell's catalog- whoever put it together must have been using a random number generator.

only problem is....when you are out of T-paper, you can't use the tablet....but the catalog.......just like the old sears and roebuck.....

Get thee a tablet and you can still look through the catalog while on the throne!
