Hey guys. I order myself a PSA m4 upper on 12/20/12. I received an email on the 29th saying that my order has shipped; included was my ups tracking number. When I tried to track the package it said ups could not locate shipment details. I waited and tried again; same issue. When I called today they said it was still at their warehouse and should ship today. I checked ups again and still no shipment. Anyone experience similar issues?

The tracking number is they've just notified ups that there is a package to pickup. Untill the UPS driver gets it in their hands there wont be an update. They've printed a shipping label for your box at this point.

They dont have great shipping times at the best of time, now it's even worse. Buddy of mine tried to order an upper from them friday and they told him a 2 month lead time if it gives you any idea of the backlog.

That said, they will ship.. nothing to do but wait on it at this point.

As mentioned, it's SOP. They process the order and at then end, when the shipping label is generated they automatically notify the shipper and the receiver. They're effectively done with the order at this point and it's a matter of shipper pick up. It's not like someone's sitting there deliberately saying it's shipped to lie to you.

So, they're just getting to orders on the 20th. Guess it will be a while before I see my stuff.

Palmetto is becoming legendary for poor service. Good luck.
Yep, just give it 3 months and let us know if you got it and then if you can get it to work or have the canted front sight.

PSA, is a PITA.

Well dang that's disheartening. That doesn't make since to send out an email saying "Your order has shipped" when it's still at the warehouse. But I've waited this long, what's a little longer. I appreciate the input.
If you go back and look at the product description for your upper, you'll find this in red letters (to help people see it and avoid problems):

*Please allow up to 15 business days for your Complete Assembled Upper to ship from our facility. Holiday and special lead times can be longer*

Shipping labels are created shortly after orders are placed. Shipping labels update when the product leaves our facility and are en route to their destination. You will be emailed tracking information when the order leaves our facility, however if you receive one shortly after you place your order and it remains dormant, don't be alarmed. Your tracking information will be updated when it leaves our facility and is still subject to the aforementioned lead time. If your tracking number goes beyond the listed lead time please get in contact with us via email or phone and we will look into your issue.

(I increased the font size cause you missed it the first time :D ). Also note the 15 business days (not regular days). They got to processing your order and they print the shipping label out when they get to it. Later they mail it because it's a huge PITA to try and print the label at the end or something (I read about it on a thread on arfcom). Basically your order is right on schedule (maybe even ahead) and you'll get you stuff shortly. Order from PSA if you want the best prices on stuff and don't mind the wait. Don't order form them if you need it tomorrow. Hope it helps!

PSA is really bad for this to begin with. I mean they got my order wrong 3 times once before all this craziness. But, its going to be like that about anywhere you go now. Ive ordered from a couple places before christmas and just now starting to get stuff that was shipped USPS priority. So, until everyone catches up we are all just gonna have to play they wait game.

when did psa start building aks?
Never but the canted front sight and mis drilled front sight was from early last year. Several over a 3-4 month time frame showed up.
They could not let Century stand all alone in the POS builds and CS..

Who uses the front post anyway?? First I do with a new upper is chop off the front sight post and slide on a Troy rail. Yes you wait awhile but, good luck finding an upper for that cheap. It ain't the quality of a larue but if their okay for plinking.

I ordered my latest upper from them on 12/22/12 and got an e-mail that it had shipped on 1/2/13. I got the upper yesterday (1/3/13) around 1100hrs. I wasn't planning on getting it until the middle of this month considering how many orders they are processing on a daily basis and the fact that Christmas and New Years both fell in that time period from ordering it to me getting it. Now If the ammo that I ordered (separately) gets here in as timely of a fashion I will be doing real good.

The problem with the front sight being canted is the gas port is also not lined up like it should.
Even if you don't use the front sight then the gas port is still a problem...
