I got one of these in a trade recently and was wondering how they compare to a 10-22? The rifle had a good feel for a plastic stock. I have some older Remington rifles like a Model 34 and a 550-1. Anyone with experience and comments appreciated.

I put the Volq triqqer hammer in it thanks to a discount with Midway. Mine came without siqhts (pawn shop deal for 80$) so I have only shot it with a red dot and cannot comment on accuracy as I am also sure it is far more accurate than I am.

I can say one other positive...it cycles with CCI quiet ammo which not all semi autos do.

I like mine. Same as everyone above, the aftermarket is basically a fraction of a percent compared to the 10/22 but if you just want to blast away on it not a bad piece at all. Common problem is FTE with them, volquartsen makes a replacement extractor many like I installed one even though my ejections weren't overly terrible.

Had one, it is what it is, a cheap plinker .22, if you have low expectations then it will deliver, overall comparison to a stock 10/22 ........lesser grade, not that the ruger is high grade but compare internals and externals side by side you'll see ruger seems to be assembled with slightly higher grade components with evident greater attention to detail in fit and finish, the magazine delivery system of the ruger is much better IMO and fit flush so position work on the line is easier...YMMV

A Marlin 795 will walk all over it in the accuracy dept and cheaper to boot

I have a Remington 597 with scope and heavy barrel (from Walmart). Also have the Ruger 10/22, Navy digital camp stock and blued stock barrel. Believe it or not, the 597 is more accurate (repeatable) for me. Pretty much everything else about the 10/22 is superior. Rotary magazine is much better. Back to the 597, the bolt handle flies off every now and then and is really hard to find. I have not found a solution to this. Researching on the internet, it appears this is a common issue and probably the most serious. My problem started after about 2 years of shooting.

I picked one up for $80 from a co-worker and have been shooting it with no problems for about 4 monthes.. I have shot two DPRC 2-GUN RIMFIRE matches with it in limited class and won the September match and placed 4th overall in the October match, totally stock gun. I would say just order extra 10 round mags off of eBay and have fun!!!
