I am looking at some LEO trade in Sig P226 in .40. I have shot Sigs owned by others in the past and enjoyed them. What I want to know is does the the DAK system offer any real world benefit over DAO? Also how does the P226 work for CCW. I realize it is a heavy full size pistol but and first hand info would be appreciated.

I had a Sig P220 Carry DAK that I sold to @ScopinBill, while I can't speak to the P226, I can weigh in on the DAK.
Mine was particularly smooth, some seem very gritty, there are some tutorials on the Web on how to polish up the internals if that's your thing, I didn't have to go that route.

The DAK has a learning curve if you are used to shooting from reset with a Glock or other striker fired pistol, you will handicap yourself by always getting the heavier trigger pull, the DAK has two reset points.

Bottom line is I liked the pistol but couldn't ever get used to the trigger.

I don't have any experience with the DAK, but I used to have a HK p200 with the LEM trigger which is pretty much the same thing. It could be because I am such a fan of striker fired pistols, but I hated that trigger with a passion. It is pretty light, but it is LONG. I'd definitely get some trigger time on one before you buy.

My west German da/sa with a carbon folded slide is lighter than my m11a1 with the stainless slide. But the newer 226's have stainless slides so they are going to be heavy. I prefer to carry the 226 during fall and winter under a jacket or hoodie IWB.

A good belt and holster makes a big difference, I use a fatboy xxl and a 2 point hybrid holster. But the 226 won't be completely inconspicuous with the grip sticking out if you are wearing a T shirt.

I had a DAK that I converted to SA/DA (and subsequently sold). I'm not sure why Sig can't seem to find a "happy medium" in the double-action space (something like a Kahr-feeling trigger) but in my opinion they haven't.

I like SA/DA Sigs, and it's not too hard to convert them usually.

You definitely should have Googled it.

In case you haven't been told, asking a direct question about guns on a forum that was actually designed for people to talk about guns is really, really bad form man. Quite rude, actually.

Now, please go start a thread about BLM (either one)/tits/libruls or we will have to ask the modz to ban you.
