1911

Here's my only 1911. It's a Loaded Springer that I traded an AR upper for. I added the S&A mag guide and a bolt on Novak light rail. I'd like to upgrade the sights (tritium + FO) for nighttime/flashlight use. As it is, the front sight takes a second to acquire when the light first lights up.

An oldie but a goodie...

Colt manufactured U.S. Army Model of 1911 born around 1915...

It's been refinished at least once and looks like some '70s era pistolero added some nickel parts and pimped it up a bit...if only it could tell us of its journey.

Very nice pistols, guys...

Ralph, I got nothing against "pimpin' 'em up"...you've seen some of my revolvers wearing Mother of Pearl on more than one occasion...I really like your nickel Rock Island duo 8)

Here's one of the more accurate pistols I own...a Colt Government model in hard chrome tricked out in the Custom Shop to specs by Chip McCormick...

The grips are some bone or horn that I had around. It came wearing black rubber wrap-arounds with silver Colt medallions.

Catman...I still think you have way too many nice looking guns!
Ralph, you are TOO modest...your collection is stunning in its breadth and beauty...All except that disgusting 3.5" Model 27...how can you STAND to have that beast mingle with your other fine firearms?

Excellent photography as well....as usual. Thanks for sharing.

Here's one with a strange looking logo on the slide....

Damn, guys, what's with all the pretty guns? What is this, queer eye for the .45 guy?

Here's my carryin' 1911, a Norinco "Model Of The 1911A1 .45 Automatic":

The product of the finest Chinese slave labor, I bought it from the old Sportsman's Paradise in Yadkinville for $300 back in 1999, and probably spent about that much on it tinkering with it. I installed a Chip McCormick hammer, trigger and sear, and a Ed Brown beavertail that required the use of a dremel and a lot of filing to install. Holster is a Don Hume summer special copy, magazines are Mec-Gar 8 rounders, and the mag carriers I bought off some guy in GA on arf.com.

I think I win the award for the ugliest 1911... but the funny thing is, I've never had it malfunction on me, even shooting Wolf and AMERC! I usually end up carrying my Glock 19 or USP-45F, but sometimes you need a big lump 'o steel on your belt. :D

pdb,

Welcome to the forum...glad you found it. Should be just your cup of tea.

I have enjoyed reading your blog in the past. I was sorry to hear about you closing your store, selfishly, because I loved reading your stories of interaction with the customers... Always enjoyed your range reports as well.

Glad that your devotion to the shooting arts continues unabated.

If you bought that Norinco at Sportsman's Paradise then you know where to find the new indoor range at Sportsman's Lodge and my new gunshop, Morris Firearms at Sportsman's Lodge. We renovated the existing structure for the gun store and built a new structure for the indoor range.

I've pretty much shot my wad on my 1911 collection but I do have the Colt Officer's in another pose...

You guys are open now? Al-righty! Can't wait to come by and check the place out. I stopped by a couple of times when they were expecting to be able to run the outdoor range, but I guess the killjoys strangled that plan.

Colt Series '70 Lightweight Commander

Now hear this! Now hear this! There has never been a Series 70 Colt Commander...lightweight or otherwise.

And...Commanders aren't 1911s. They variants. Technically, so are 1911A1s.

As you were, men...
