The midway USA one will be on sale for 29-39 bucks from time to time. Its hard to beat it at that price point. I've lost some over the years to students w/ sticky fingers and people may leave them behind as well. IF you're going to be shooting more of highpower discipline I'd go with something like a creedmore w/ light colors so you don't get burned during the summer.

Yup - like as we speak it's on sale.

I use one of the Midway mats that I got on sale for $30. That's about the right price for it. I've used it pretty hard for 2 seasons of Highpower and it's torn up now. I will probably buy something a little better next time, like a Creedmoor Sports or Champions Choice. I agree with the suggestion for a lighter colored mat. The rubber on mine is very hot in the summer.

My favorite when I was a teenager shooting NRA sanctioned 50ft was made like the midway mat, except instead of flaring out to both sides it was shaped like an upside down L. You flipped it over depending on if you were shooting a left or right hand rifle. Made cleaning up the brass easy.
Now I'd prob use a od ground sheet for a small tent, and the mat on top if it was outdoor shooting.

I have one of the midway mats, they're good for the price as others have said.

I've also got a bag like this one: http://www.blackhawk.com/product/Stalker-Drag-Mat,172,1396.htm

It's not exactly that but very close and it carries the rifle and unfolds into a mat. That way I only have 1 thing to carry, if I have the rifle I have a mat. The only downside to it is that on flat concrete the buckles can end up producing some annoying raised points. It's distracting when you're trying to shoot and your man parts are being poked at. Doesn't happen all the time obviously but it happens.

If you're on a budget, I highly recommend what I used on Sunday when screwing around with a pellet rifle in the front yard:

I was feeling a bit tacticool one day and picked up a Tab Gear mat. A lot more expensive than the Midway mat, but these roll up very compact.

The mat rolls up very nicely, the blue tarp, on the other hand, doesn't.
