Starting 3 weeks ago, I was having pain in my stomach. I went to see my DR because pain and no appetite are usually not a good thing. My blood work came back fine and they saw the main artery was damaged and the blood flow was restricted. They sent me to a vascular surgeon who would insert a stent to open the artery.
He takes blood samples and see's that I have clotting issues and surgery can't be done until that is addressed. That puts me at my oncologist. He draws blood and the levels are high but they are not terrible. He wants some other test done and so I go back to my primary DR. again for different blood tests.
That brings us to Wednesday the 15th. DR. calls me and says "I want you to admit yourself to the emergency room right now. I get a ride to UNC Chapel Hill because my last surgery was done there in 2012. 9 hours later, I am in a private room in the oncology ward.
8 days of tests, procedures and blood work and they find metastatic lesions in my liver, blockage in the lungs and several masses and enlarged lymph nodes. Friday the 24th, I am diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic cancer.
I had stage 3 Pancreatic cancer back in 2007 and it has been in remission since 2008 after Whipple surgery, months of chemo and radiation treatments. DR's were surprised when they saw how fast it came back and how far it has spread.
Going this Tuesday for a consultation with oncologist to see how they want to proceed. I got home yesterday and haven't gotten the energy to do much except rest.
