The NRA is really good at what it does best - national advocacy and training.
The SAF is really good at what it does best - lawsuits.
GRNC (and other state organizations) is really good at what it does best - state and local advocacy.

And all of those organizations perform pretty poorly when they venture beyond their core competency.

Rather than picking which pro-2A organizations to support, we should support them all, but also press for them to work together more effectively.

Well spoken.

Amen! If they work the opponents as hard as they work the members then they would be in the drivers seat all the time!
The NRA spends their local activity time on pestering it's members for more money. I got tired of them constantly bugging me for money 30 years ago.

I agree we should support them all and appreciate what each does. Hard for any one organization to be a one size fit all that's why I think each organization does certain things well that is appreciate more by certain people.

I have been a Life Member of the NRA since 1976. For many, many years the NRA was the only voice that gun owners had. Now, some other organizations have arrived and are helping. The NRA works mainly on a national level. Maybe they are not as effective now as in the past. I would hate to see them dropped because if it was not for the NRA's work over the years we might not even be on a gun owner's forum.
Agree 100% NRA does a lot that we don't see. A big problem with NC & SC is that we have weak NRA reps. The only good rep that NC had was Davis Wells and he got promoted after only 3 or 4 years on the job.

How could he not know? CSC is the Walmart of the Carolina gun community.
Not meaning to be a smart-ass, but I have been living in NC for 30 years and never heard of CSC until a few days ago. Then again, I didn't start shopping at Walmart until a few years ago.

On a different subject, I notice that the anti-gunner, Thom Tillis, still has "endorsed by NRA" on his tv adds.

Not to be a dick, but I doubt you're a prominent figure in the shooting community.

I will say that I was disappointed when I called the NRA last week and talked to them. I first got the political action arm, who told me that NRA has zero paid reps in NC. That didn't sound right, so I called back, and it's just their political action arm that has no paid reps. NRA does, as has been pointed out here. I spent some time talking with the fellow, and we agreed on several points that we discussed. But when I asked about coordinating NRA efforts with other groups, he said that NRA was a grass roots organization, and it was mostly up to NRA members to do any coordinating. So tell me why I'm paying NRA dues again?? Sorry, I don't agree with their not being responsible for coordinating their efforts. I think it's one of the more important things they can do. Their paid rep should be doing that, without question.

as a rep, you would think that the first line on his job description would be to coordinate/ organize/ mingle with other 2A minded groups.

Most "Professional" political analyst have Tillis as the strongest one against Hagan. NRA is going to go with the most likely winner for the GOP. I am voting for anyone who is running against Hagan. People need to realize, the GOP needs to take the Senate to stop Obama and get all of Congress to stop his violations of the US Constitution. Hagan is going to be Obama's female dog as long as she is in office. I do hope a candidate will get 40% to avoid a run-off. I will admit that has tipped who I will vote for Tuesday. All I hope is whoever wins, we all BACK the GOP candidate to oust Hagan in November and not stay home!

I agree!!! If we could get another Bush in office we won't have all these violations of our rights!

I really wish I believed the GOP was interested in putting an end to the overreaching...I really do...but I don't. I think they just want the overreaching done their way.

LOL!
