I have seen some strange and humorous things at various ranges over the years, and today I saw another.

It got me thinking that we needed another incarnation of a "Tales From The Range" thread.

I'll start with today - I think the dude next to me was a little confused about how the hostage targets are supposed to work.

Well, he definitely ended the hostage situation.

 

Or....thats looking from the back side, the hostage being Mr. Black. This dude obviously flanked them and took out the threat. Except for the one flyer, that one got a friendly.

I do weird stuff like that sometimes. I'll pick out a portion of the target to hit. But I'll usually hit the bad guy first, then pick something else. Maybe that guy was working on a hostage situation where his heavily insured wife is the hostage. Oops. Cha ching.

In an open forum I can't pick the one I wanted.

 

Me thinks he misunderstood what "hostage drop" is.

 

And he doesn't understand "pass through".

 

Ok, somebody tell me what is wrong with this picture

Guy is about to enter a shoot house after running, punching a heavy bag and carrying a bucket.

 

Two guys downrange from a loaded weapon. Don't they know you should wave when you are on camera?

 

Why do you assume the black one is the bad guy!? That's racist!

 

That's why the guy shot the lighter of the two targets, to prove he wasn't.

I am tired just watching it.

But, from now on at matches when I see any kind of hostage cover I am going to yell out "GUN!!!" prior to shooting it. Good tactical practice.

Range tale:
Was at PDHSC once. There were two young fellas next to me shooting a Glock (appears to be 17). It was clearly having problems.

I watched the dude stick a mag in, wrack the slide, and.......click. So he shakes the gun. He then taps it on the shelf. I am starting to get nervous. He then tilts it up and looks down the barrel!!

I quickly came around and grabbed the muzzle firmly and pointed it back down while saying loudly "NO! STOP!" while getting in the guys face. Guy looks like he is about to shit himself now.
I take the gun away from him (you decide whether this is the correct thing to do) and use my left arm to push him back a little. I am angrily telling him "THAT WAS EFFING STUPID, YOU HAVE A LIVE ROUND IN YOUR CHAMBER DUMBASS!!" I scold him a little, then tell him I'll check his gun as they stand there sheepishly.

I realize they really can't understand me because their english is bad (young asians). I examine the gun and eject the mag and round. Hmmm. Looks okay. I then stick the mag in and cycle in a round and point it down range....and something didn't feel right. I wrack slide but nothing comes out. I tilt the gun down and watch the 9mm round fall out the end of what I now realize is a Glock 22!

I am like "Jesus fellas."

 

All that punching and kneeing the bag is fun, until the arthritis shows up later in life.

 

I just talk 'em to death. @trcubed has been on a couple of road trips with me. Ask him. He started to get out of the truck at 75MPH on US1, but he was driving, and it was his wife's new truck.
