I experienced a catastrophic failure in my Taurus pt22 yesterday. The frame rails sheared off and sent the slide across the room. Luckily nobody got hurt, but it could have been worse. If you own one of these, check your frame for problems. I will call Taurus tomorrow and see if they will replace the frame. The pt22 is supposed to have a lifetime warranty on it. Not going to hold my breath on this, but maybe I can get it replaced. I'll keep it updated, and report back.

Taurus is typically pretty good or have been to me in the past. Notify them an they will send you a Return authorization number. Be prepared to send them local dealer info. Address ,ffl number ect, They may also want the ammo you were using to evaluate the problem. I which you will have to ship separately…. Hope this helps.

I have had it for a while. But I have only shot it less than 200 rounds. CCI mini-mags I was on the second box of 100. It is going to have to get a new frame. I don't believe that they can fix it. I'll call them tomorrow and see what happens. First and last Taurus .22. I had a 627 .357, and never had a problem with it. But that's how they do you.

Fellow Taurus hater here…build quality, finish, function, I have been disappointed every time I try them to the point where I will no longer give them my money. After waiting several months dealing with their “customer service” to replace my 942 that was completely broken right out of the box I can’t recommend them even as a “they get a lot wrong but at least they have a good warranty” company. Warranty does you no good if they can’t get the guns in country (apparently the 942 is made in their Brazil factory and judging by the length of time it took they ship them in via mule train).
I could go on for quite some time regarding the disaster dealing with them was, but as they won’t give refunds for their shoddy products, you’re probably going to be offered a choice at some point of applying the MSRP of your pt22 against the laughably high MSRP of another of their guns (seriously do they know how cheap their guns actually sell for street price?). If you’re forced into that regrettable position and are looking for something in .22, the TX22 is actually pretty decent. I have yet to hear a bad review of one and mine has been incredibly solid. It’s the only Taurus I have yet to sell. I know it doesn’t fill quite the same slot as the pt22, but it’s the only product of theirs that I am aware of outside the Beretta 92 clones that a real gun company engineered and showed them how to make that’s worth a damn.
Best of luck in dealing with them and I hope your experience is better than mine was.

I have owned several Taurus models over the years. I even bought a CT9 9mm carbine. The only problem with it was you could not get any magazines for it. It came with 2 10 round magazines. It was another Brazil Taurus and imported into the country. 30 & 40 round magazines are plenty in Brazil, but they could not import them into the country. I got by this with some reworked Colt SMG mags. They worked somewhat, but it wasn't the same. Somebody else just had to have it, and I let it go. I see them on Gbroker every now and then. I got a CMMG MK9 LE 9mm it uses Colt magazines and all and all very happy with the purchase. So now I am waiting for them to inspect the gun and tell me what they are going to do. I read up on the TX22, if they offer me a swap I will take it.

Well I sent the PT22 in to Taurus for evaluation. Seems it is broken beyond repair. They allowed me $276.00 for a future purchase of one of their products off the website. (At factory MSRP) I decided to go with the G3 full size 4" w/2 17rd magazines. The difference was $65. They are going to send it along in about 4 weeks to my FFL. Everything went great, everyone I spoke to at Taurus was great. So now I'm just waiting for it to show up.

I have several 22 pistols, Ruger Mk3, Buckmark, S&W victory, Sig P322, Walter PPQ 22, and Taurus TX 22 competition. The Taurus TX22 comp is a great 100 yard pistol with the Vortex Venom. I endorse the TX22 comp with absolute confidence. Just my 22 cents.

Take plenty of pictures and include the ammo box when you send in your email claim. After I sent it in to Taurus, it only took 4 days for them to decide it was damaged beyond repair and offered me a new Taurus of my choice. They will give you xx amount to spend, and if you want a higher value gun, you just pay the difference. The customer service was great.
