When I started my current job (government), I was there about my third day and cross training with a coworker. This particular one told me, in the first five minutes of our entire interaction, don't get ahead on your work or they'll have you helping other people. WTF, he went full on bureaucrat in no time flat

Don't let the system get you down. Safe travels

South Dakota? You're getting ready to experience the Artic Wedge.

My dad is in KS on the tail end of it and he is constantly surprised by just how fast temps can drop. He said the first time he drove out to meet a customer on a muddy dirt road at day break, and then left 3 hours later on a sheet of ice he thought he had stepped into the twilight zone.

Only thing between him and the North Pole is a barbed wire fence

Cool, now we have a new CSC bugout location in the Dakota's! Probably complete with 1'000' range right?

I would say enjoy the move, but my last move about killed me. So, just keep a smile on your face and get through it. Long moves can be tough. But once you are there and settled in enjoy the new surroundings. Congratulations.

@diablos30 not sure if we have ever met, but over as long as I have been here it has always been nice reading your post. Glad to hear you will still be checking in. Best of luck on the new career, the move and the changes it will bring. If I get the chance to travel that way I should buy you lunch. Hate to see good people leave NC, but we have to pay the bills.

Good luck...I'm certain you'll do well.

I'm a bit envious. I told my wife we should move to somewhere along the ID/MT border, in the foothills of the Bitterroot.

Of course, she comes back with, "That'd be a long-ass drive to get your yearly Outer Banks "fix" and I'm all like, "F*CK!".

Gorgeous country out there. I love the Black Hills. Don't recall exact location, but it will be nearby, the Tall grass Prarie National Preserve is a fantastic place to check out. It's the biggest preserved portion of tall grass prarie in the world.

Devils Tower is cool as heck too.

Safe travels and best wishes on your new path.

Very pretty out there in the warm and mild months. But I'll be the downer here and say it's not a place I'd want to be in wintertime. I dated a girl many years ago that was a lawyer out there. Asked me to move and it didn't take me too long to think about it. I hate cold weather! But if you're going knowing it will be for X years to get experience in the job, then move on, that would probably be worth it if it's good experience for moving up.
