So Im wanting to get a tac light for my G19. I like the light ouput of the TLR -1 but I like the size of the TLR -3. So here is my question....I see some TLR - 1 lights that look like they are longer in size that others. is there any size difference in the TLR -1 and the TLR-1s? I don't mind if a bit of the light sticks out, I just dont want it sticking out like 1-2 inches or so....

No.

The TLR 1 sticks out just a bit on a g19 but runs fine. You may need to wipe it with your thumb after a few dozen rounds.

That was after a couple hundred or so rounds. I wanted to test it out a bit. That's a g19 it is on in that pic. :)

Function is more important than form so don't let that but of bezel that sticks out past the muzzle bother you.
I just try to think about if it would be better having something that fits flush and doesn't stick out, less power, only uses 1 battery, weighs less vs. something that sticks out more, more power, 2 batteries. I like the length of the inforce APL, but of course, Im not putting out that kind of money for a light. Do they both sit pretty far back against the trigger guard?

No offense brother but you're over-thinking it. :)

It's a light. A bright, dependable light. I have one with no regrets. I've ran it on my 870, ar15, glock, colt rail gin, springfield champion operator and a beretta m9a1. It takes a licking and keeps on ticking. The ONLY issue that has cropped up has been surface rust on the set screw. If I'd kept it in the safe and never ever used it, that probably wouldn't have happened.

Would I rather have a surefire x300? Hell yeah. But I have other hobbies and a child so I cut corners when I can do so within reason. Buy it, go ahead and order a box of 20 surefire branded batteries at ridiculously low prices drop on ebay drop-shipped from who knows where and you've got a dependable, relatively low cost solution. When you need batteries, that $12 box of batteries may/may not be here by then. :)

That tlr1 hl looks neat, I was blisfully unaware since my tlr1s seems to not want to die. How's that battery life on that thing? And is it "too bright?" I know my tlr1 is borderline too bright when you flash a white or light colored wall indoors at close range.

Sounds like you my want something like the Crimson Trace Lightguard. Its smaller, uses one battery, and doesn't protrude out past the muzzle. Now you lose some brightness but some actually prefer less light on pistols.

Ill probably end up going with the TLR-1
Do this. You'll be happy with it. No issue with the slight overhang. Put some chapstick on the lens to make wiping off powder residue easier.

And if for some reason you don't like it, a TLR-1/1s will be very easy to sell.

I really don't know what I want :) In the middle of the night, waking up from a dead sleep, I feel the more light the better. Ill probably end up going with the TLR-1 just for the "I'd rather have more than not enough" feeling.
There is such a thing as too much light. You could end up blinding yourself from the reflection inside a home with the tlr 600 lumen light

No no no. Too much is terrible! :) I picked up a fantastic light at a ridiculous price at a pawn shop for my rifle/shotgun. What I found when navigating the house with it, was that activating it within 5 feet of a wall left me blinded. Shine it on a bare white sheetrock wall and it is like freaking being blinded by the sun in the snow. You can actually have too much. The lumen rating of surefire x300 and streamlight tlr1 work fine for me indoors. Those two are well respected for a reason. I've actually used my tlr1 working in nasty conditions, and put hundred of types of rounds through guns with it on it. It looks like well worn but it works like a champ.

I think I've seen it for less at Primary Arms during one of their sales, but I don't see the TLR-1 on their site anymore, just the -1s.

Somebody - I think it was Primary Arms - used to sell a package of the light with a bunch of batteries for roughly what most places were selling just the light for.

Several choices here, didn't see a TLR-1, but the TLR-3 might be a viable alternative....Primary Arms should be sending out another email sale announcement soon, it has been about a month since the last one...

There is a guy on Glockforum that PM'd me and had one for sale that is used for $50 shipped. although I haven't seen pics or know the guy from adam....So, I'd almost rather chuck up the extra cash and buy new.
Nothing wrong with buying new if that's most comfortable. Much of the stuff I have was acquired like new from various exchanges from people in didn't know.
