Been reading it online and went to my local store, they said they weren't getting any in until further notice from corporate ...I will no longer support Walmart, any company that doesn't support the second ammendment will no longer receive my support as well...

I think it's a good idea to post news as it comes up, if it's not true then its not but my local store said they weren't getting more indefinitely and reports are coming up everywhere like that.

As to why a major retailer would stop selling a product, who knows, they serve the political agenda not the public, so don't put it past them

They serve their wallets... they are a business. Internet rumors are not news.

Hey BurnedOutGeek... maybe we need an "Unfounded panic of 2013 rumors" section of the forum!

But hey, if they do stop selling ammo there will be a lot of folks making less money from buying it up and then selling it for 2x the price! lol

I spoke with guy in my local walmart and he told me they could not order overstock. That each store had a set quantity's to keep on hand. When it is bought the computer inventory replaces it. He said he could not override the system and special order large quantities of a particular ammo.
Which is how most large retailers do things. Most have no way of ordering more than the system says they should have without fudging some numbers in their logistics program.

Ammo is a big money maker for Walmart, and everyone knows that Walmart is all about making money. The only reason walmart would stop selling ammo in a particular store would be if it wasn't turning a profit in that location.

Come on, guys. In the last two years, we've seen more and more walmarts expand their ammo selection, and many have started selling guns again, like they did in the pre-super walmart days.

Until I see an official news release, this is just a bad rumor.

People at local stores often lie or give miss information. Back during the last scare (2008) a lot of Walmarts limited how much each person could buy. Around here it was 6 boxes. After a while all the stores but one stopped the limit thing. The one that kept the limit is 5 minutes from my house so it was irritating that they kept the 6 box limit. I asked the counter guy why; he said it was a Corporate thing. So I explained that the other "FOUR" stores didn't have a limit anymore. He insisted they were going against Corporate Walmart orders. I emailed Walmart and found out the guy lied. I went back to the local Walmart and called them on it. The manager came out and told me the lie about Corporate yada yada. I called him a liar and told him I contacted Walmart and they said there is no limit, and it must be a local thing. Then he admited it was his own rule.

I just spoke with two friends that work in the local store. The lady who works in sporting goods says "we get ammo in everyday, and it gets sold out everyday".
She also informed me that all prices went up by about 7% last week. The stockman/warehouse worker friend told me "man, we have been doing nothing BUT getting ammo in from the warehouse" etc.

Last week, they had several cases of CCI tactical 22LR at $25/325. The next day (first day of Concord show btw...) it was all gone. I laughed. All the .44 was gone too, which surprised me. Guess the 'gunshow resellers' did a last minute raid in Locust before rolling up to the Ca-bare-arse Arena.

I liked the tin foil hat section myself ;)

My local WM is in the same boat as most, if not all, the other stores. People have bought just about all of the ammo the store has. Supplies are still conning in, but are being purchased very quickly. My local store received a large pallet full of ammo on Thursday. They stocked the shelves Thursday night and just about all of what they had was gone again by 10 am Friday morning. WM is still getting shipments, you just have to keep checking the store to know when it's available.

Generally the people working the cash register have little to no knowledge of the logistics process in a large retailer.

Walmart, like all other major retailers, utilizes a "replenishment group" to handle store orders. They look at the metrics from the quarter/year/month/week/day/etc.. and plan out what items will be restocked and at what interval. They also have "buy now" limits that after so much of an item is bought, the system recognizes it and places said order. NO walmart store employee can/will tell you what's coming, period. The best they can do is scan the barcode and tell you if it's "on order" or not. But, that in and of itself means little to nothing. Most walmarts get a shipment every day but i know that at least one local walmart has their larger shipments come in on tuesday's and sunday's...if there's ammo, there's ammo....if not, oh well.
