Just want something written about the laws of union county and home shooting ranges.

We have about 5.3 acres of land with no other houses near us,lots of hills and a good wooded tree line. I want to know what can be said from the law about shooting in the county in ones on back yard. Any help would be great:thumbup:

Yes I saw the noise ordinance too. Most of what I have been told by the local police is that its pretty much like most other noise issues. Just dont make a lot of noise late at night (say as in after 11:00) But I was also told that it is respectful to not shoot after dark etc. Which I agree with.

But what are the laws? And what can be done to support my right (if any) to shoot on our land??? Looking for help here guys :001_unsure:

There will be no law stating it's ok to shoot. The laws say what's not allowed. Your best bet is to contact the sheriff (guessing your in the unincorporated area) and ask if you can shoot on your property without problems.

I got great results going this route.

wooded tree line will not stop all the rounds, really need a berm or something that would be safe as a starter.
Big thing is, what is on all the other land around you?
Any animals as in pets or farm?
Hunting?
Can you keep 100% of the rounds on your land and safe so if someone else was walking their property or hunting they were never looking down the barrel?
Who owns the land next to you? Whats it used for?
County, state or some other property could put an end to that. Find the property owner and talk to them, tell them a plan, get them on your side and move on.
If you don't and they hear a bunch of shooting they would be the first to call an LEO I would bet.

BTW what you plan to shoot, 22lr, skeet, pistol, rifle, MG's..... That would make a difference also.

Don't want to tell you to trespass but I would start by finding what is on the other land and any sign of anything going on as a starter.

I have small shooting range out back of my house that I pretty much shoot pistols on, but I'm shooting down hill and all the projectiles are going into the dirt with a change in elevation higher from the depression area rising higher than the spot I'm shooting from.

Like the others have said talk to the sheriff and get his feedback and if you don't know your neighbors I'd at least let the ones that border your land know what your doing to avoid a visit from the po-po.
