went to the range yesterday with my STI Trojan in .40 S&W... shoots great..

I'm not being a smart a## here, being serious.. if i shoot this well and am not going to compete, why would i want a .45 1911 instead of or in addition to it?

what advantage would a .45 have.. this is for range only.

I don't know...I have a Springfield XD M in .40 and love it..I bought it on a whim because I have about 20 1911/.45acp and just didn't want another....of any discription..I love them but as they say "after you have been eating steak for a long time, beans taste fine"

"Islam is a death cult that needs to be exterminated from this planet and if it spreads to another planet, we need to chase it down and kill it there".

.45 is more accurate and much more versatile and easy to load for. You won't find many bullseye shooters using .40s&w as their preferred caliber for those same reasons.

On another note, competing will make you a better shot and help in deciding which guns are must haves and which are just taking up safe space.

I got rid of all my 40's simply because I like to consolidate calibers.

In handguns I am now down to:

9mm
38
45
22lr

The ease of only having a few calibers is nice for reloading and storage. Plus why mess it up with an odd ball 40.
Same here, 40 is a good round, but I just dont like the odd ball. Weird, because most my firends only shoot 40's.

Same here, also, But stay with the .357 mag, Covers the .38's also... No need for a .40 or .357 Sig. .357 Sig's about out the door up this way, and many LE's going back to the .45 ACP's...
