makes a great dangerous game gun... only problem is you gotta shoot the animal a lot of times, and often they will just not stay still, or worse, get real mad at you

OK, so maybe chipmunks, ground squirrels, prairie dogs, and other small pests would be better work for this lady.

Roughly 25 to 30 years ago, one of my early shooting and hunting companions (in MI) had a .220 Swift caliber rifle that someone had put together out of a reconditioned Mauser Model 98 action on a custom-made stock, with a (supposedly) Douglas XX barrel and a (IIRC) 3 - 9 X 40 Redfield scope. He called it "Crowkiller", and claimed to have quite successfully knocked down crows with it at distances up to 350 - 400 yards. I never saw him shoot at crows with it, but I did witness his knocking over several groundhogs at a roughly-measured 300 to 325 yards on one occasion, and also knocking a couple of squirrels out of a tree with it on another occasion from at least that far away.

With a good barrel, that caliber makes for a very nice varmint-shooter, at pretty long range - something the size of a chipmunk, I should imagine, would mostly disappear if you hit it dead-center, as the usual .220 Swift loading is pretty high-velocity. I don't think anyone should try to hunt larger game with it - deer, for instance - as the bullets would be too light, but it should be a lot of fun out to several hundred yards on a target range.

That's a fair price, too - I'd already be talking with you about this one, if I hadn't already mostly burned up the gun-buying budget for the next month or so...best of luck with your sale. ;-)
