Mexicans will continue to flock to the US as we are substantially more prosperous than them.

The only way to solve their leeching is to assimilate them or otherwise destroy them.

At least with assimilation we can ensure that they no longer drain upon us, rather aid us.

Terrorists have come through Mexico into the US before and they will do it again. Building a wall with Mexico is out of the question because of the effectiveness of their infiltration already. Building a wall with Guatemala is not out of the question, as Mexico already strictly enforces their territorial boundaries.

Pragmatically, the US has every reason in the world to consolidate with Mexico. The relationship we have with them now is detrimental to both nations and only breeds resentment, hostility and xenophobic hatred on both sides.
Destroy them? No need at all. Fear will keep them away, so far they have no reason not to come here. Examples need to be made, that will keep them out.

I dont see what we would gain from annexing them, other than crime, debt and less jobs to be had.
At this point I will exit the convo. I have very deep feelings about illegal immigration and to me its on the same level as theft(as thats what they are doing). Convo may go south from here so I will take my exit.

If there was a will to deal with illegal immigration, it would be very simple!

Fine businesses $10,000 for the first offense, $25,000 for the second offense, and $100,000 for the third offense. Continue to add $100,000 for each offense after the third - with NO LIMIT!

Then offer $1,000 rewards to anyone who turns in a business that results in a fine for hiring illegals. Fund the rewards with the fine money - and still have plenty left over to fund enforcement.

End of story, end of problem.

There is only one small issue that prevents this - there is no will or desire to do it!

This topic has some interest for me also. After their arrival, say fifteen years back; my income as a tradesman was reduced 30%. I don't much care what anyone else's official statistics show. I can only speak for my own experiances. My personal quality of life has diminished since their arrival, and yes I do attribute our goverment's deliberate non-enforcement of our borders to be complicit in the problem. Corruption on both sides of our southern border maintains this situation to their own ends.

In my home we agree with the sentiments of both NCreptile and Demon613. My wife has long abdicated the assimilation of Mexico. She agrees that we should at least increase our country's tax base by absorbing them to defer the drain they allready place on our coffers.

Personally, nothing has ever afforded me the peace of mind as having my six secured by an ample array of mechanical assault devices; namely Claymores. It always took my mind off of the other uncomfortable aspects of my surroundings, like poisoness centipedes and snakes in my AO. Ahhh... Central America! Gotta love it!

So my vote would be for an errent air drop of say 500mil baseball mines on various paralell border azimuths. Way cheaper than a fence. Ageing stockpiles available now.

Assimilating mexico would add 100million people that are used to living in third world conditions to the US. This would be a disaster for our economy, criminal justice system and society

The impact they are having right now on those sectors of our country are identical to your "worst case scenario" portent.

The lawlessness and other problems associated with the Territories of the US were eventually all but destroyed by the assimilation of the Territories into the USA as full-fledged States.

This is the solution I see for Mexico. Their government and people cannot and will not do it for themselves and they will forever be a problematic thorn in our side.

They are a very real threat to our nation in their current incarnation on multiple levels of analysis. They must be stopped because they won't fix themselves. They've proven that every election cycle since their inception.

The solutions to the Mexico Problem are simple and limited in number:

(1) Do Nothing; Let the situation persist
(2) Invade Mexico, annex all territory, dissolve government, rebuild interior under US State model
(3) Build Wall with armed sentries and detection equipment, killing those that attempt to cross and deporting those already here, regardless of citizenship status, as long as Mexican-ancestry or Mexican-sympathizing can be established

(1) is going to be the likely choice
(2) is the best solution for both nations
(3) is even more of a pipe dream than #2

That is the key, right now they are only having really drastic impacts on small community areas outside of the SW. You open the borders and it will all be fair game.
The "sectors" I was talking about was not geographic. The illegal Mexicans are not isolated to one region or another.

They are in every Department of Correction. They are in every Department of Education. They are in every Department of Health and Human Services. They are making waves in all of these sectors.

Simply enforcing labor laws, levelling heavy fines against employers of illegal aliens, and financing and aiding the enforcement of immigration laws by providing cash rewards to those who turn in the illegal employers would solve 85%-90% of the problem, if coupled with providing social services and welfare only to citizens and legal residents.

What is it about this option that you don't think would work?

The quality of the persons that make up the Citizenry of the United States of America.

The kinds of people that would have prevented this problem in the first place would have overthrown our corrupt government 100 years ago.

We simply don't have enough Americans to do what is necessary and right, so we must settle for "better-than-nothing" solutions to problems that shouldn't even exist.

I dont know why this professor is still alive, let alone walking around freely. if it were up to me, his head would be on a stake and put on the border, and anyone caught with his GPS phone, would be shot. I highly doubt this @$$hole would have gotten away with this under the Bush administration.

What's the difference between Bush and Obama? Not much.... and certainly not much when it comes to illegal immigration!

I am sad to say I voted for Bush - in retrospect, he did nothing but speed up the descent of this nation into a downward spiral... he had me fooled at first. I never would have voted for him in a million years, knowing what I know now.

No, were you? the bush andministration didnt f**k around when it came to assisting terrorist in anyway, which is exactly what this dip $hit is doin.
Under Bush's watch:

- Millions of Mexicans streamed into the US unmolested.

- Hundreds of millions of American dollars streamed into Mexico from the Mexican criminals that reside here

- Innumerable violent crimes perpetrated against American citizens, in America, by illegal Mexican criminals (rape, robbery, murder, aggravated assault)

- Dozens of gun battles between Mexico and the US ensued.

- Multiple US aircraft were downed by Mexican forces.

- US Attorney General, Alberto Gonzales, refers to Mexican criminals as "undocumented citizens" and sucessfully prosecutes US police agents and Border Patrol along with Mexico, leading to many incarcerations and felony convictions (that cannot be overturned in the US, despite some of the offenses in Mexico not having reciprocal offenses in the US; i.e. posession of ammunition/guns, etc.)

Damn. What a hard-ass.

All this ranting and raving will do no good. One could well imagine this same sort of talk around the Sioux and Cheyenne and Arapaho camps 150 years ago...and look where it got them.

Of course, the plains tribes took land from other tribes...by force. Then, it was done to them by the descendants of likewise uninvited and unwanted European immigrants/tresspassers who took without asking and slaughtered if they were resisted in their undertakings.

Looks like it's our turn...and our politicians will help them along. Might as well get used to it. I don't know what the solution is, but I do know that they're here to stay...legally or otherwise.

Interesting times we live in. Yessiree, Bob...
