Hey cardiac,
Been lusting after a Les Baer for a long time and always talk myself out of it.
Are they honestly worth the extra $$$.
Not trying to start something, just your opinion since you have some other high quality 11's also.

I have a Les Baer and like it a lot (very tight and more accurate than I am). The Baer certainly holds its own against my other 1911s that cost more.

I would suggest that Les Baers and Dan Wessons offer among the most bang for the buck in higher-end production 1911s.

Agree with stentor. I really like my Wesson's and Baer's. Grabbed my Baer for about $1700 out the door so it was only a few bucks more than a DW. They are both great. The Baer does have a different more solid or dense feel to me. Really feels like I could use it to fend off Vikings or break down a gate if need be. Shoots as you would expect. Just an old school weapon. From what I have seen the Wesson's and Baer's are about the best bet without going nuts and spending $3,000+ on a Brown, Wilson, Nighthawk etc. For most mortals a Wesson or Baer will be more than enough.

Was at Personal Defense in Raleigh today and they have a Les Baer TRS just like mine in the case. Can't remember if it was on consignment or just used, but it looked good through the glass and was priced around $1500 if I remember correctly. I was excited to shoot my new Pointman so I may be off on the #'s but it looked nice. Their consignment stuff is usually nice so if you are hunting it is worth a call.

If you ever are around Raleigh give me some notice, and you are more than welcome to put a few mags through mine before you buy one.

Appreciate your opinion and your offer Cardiac.
I don't get to Raleigh often but if I do I might just take you up on a few trigger pulls with the Baer.

I did not know that Les Baer's 1911s were priced that low.
Vintage Colts are creepin' up inta that territory.
Collectible Colts are already there, but shooters in good condition are well over $1000.

For some reason you can find the Thunder Ranch Special under $2k quite a bit. Or at least you could when I grabbed mine about 1.5 years ago. I have seen Stingers under $2k also. Everything else I have seen is around $2300 and up. 1911 addicts classified section sometimes has some lightly used high end 1911s at reasonable prices. Sometimes.

Traded for this Colt MK IV Officers yesterday. Ran a couple mags thru that shot and cycled fine. This is the "Enhanced" model. All steel, a bit heavier than I'm used to, but am giving it a try. I might pick up a Colt Lightweight Commander if I come across a nice older one.

Here is my Kimber Aegis Pro that has had the grip modified to officers length to make it a CCO pistol. At the time I had this done you could not get a CCO in 9mm. I later added the magwell to improve reloads. I have used this in IDPA competition in the Compact Carry class.

Might add a new 1911 to me gun locker tomorrow...
nothing like the beauty queens ya'll been postin'...
found a full size Norinco 1911 circa 1993, one of the last imports before the ban.
Perkerized finish is kinda scratchy, but it looks like no one has touched the feed ramps.
Still has the original Pachmayr style wrap around grips.
Sights are not milspec, but still tiny... at least they are three white dots.
If I can talk them into an out the door price less than $350, it will be mine!
